Keke Palmer

Akeelah and the Bee came out the following year, so up to this point she'd done episode stints on things like ER and Cold Case. She has clearly always had charisma for days.

Rachel Bilson

It sits a HAIR low, but the fabric and the dress are superb. Summer Roberts forever.

Mischa Barton

Hear me out: Mischa Barton on The White Lotus. She looks gorgeous and I had that EXACT hot pink Motorola Razr flip phone and if it weren't for how annoying it was to text on it, I'd want it back. (At the time I was like, "Ugh, NOBODY TEXTS, what is the POINT, just CALL PEOPLE," and now I'm like, "OH GOD NO, NOT TALKING!!!!"

Maggie Grace

That is some serious Southern Belle hair, but again, wow, what a dress. The metallics were thriving.

Alexis Denisof and Alyson Hannigan

Still married! I appreciate this pattern tremendously.

Lauren Graham

Hear me out: Lauren Graham on The White Lotus.

Kelly Rowan

Both these women accessorized their red really, really well.

Filliam H. Muffman

Still married! They even made it through an admissions scandal AND her jail time. It must be love. Also, she picked a great dress to win in; it fits her like a dream.

Portia de Rossi

I don't remember 2005 as a year being this lovely, but this slideshow has come out guns blazing.

Mariska Hargitay

I wonder what she'd think if I was like, "Oh, Mariska, in 20 years, you're still on SVU." She'd probably have been like, "SWEET, STEADY WORK, I'm going to hit the Maldives for a whole MONTH."

Eva Longoria

She does not NAB.

Ellen Pompeo

This was her first Emmys as Meredith Grey. I'd say she did it well.

Marcia Cross

Hear me out: Marcia Cross on The White Lotus. But as either Kimberly Shaw, or Bree Van De Kamp. If she's neither, she still has to rip off a wig.

Kiefer Sutherland

Everything is in order here.

Heidi Klum

I was a little disappointed to realize that's the flower arrangement behind her, and not an exuberant dress explosion.

Nicollette Sheridan

This is the first real comedown of the bunch.

Kathy Bates

Isn't it delightful that she's nominated exactly 20 years later? She was up for her role in a miniseries, Warm Springs, and now she's nominated for Matlock.

Halle Berry

This could also sit a bit higher, but Halle Berry makes almost anything look like a good idea.

Bill Lawrence and Christa Miller

Still married! And partners in a nominated show, Shrinking. In 2005, it was Scrubs.

Molly Parker

She ALSO has shows with the same first letter twenty years apart: Deadwood and Doc.

Barbara Hershey and Naveen Andrews

NOT still together. They actually briefly broke up this year, during which time he fathered a son with someone else.

S. Epatha Merkerson

She won for Lackawanna Blues, and she had tucked a speech into her dress and then it slipped and she couldn't find it. Iconic.

Teri Hatcher

She also looks great. Nicollette Sheridan got the fashion short shrift for sure, from whomever styled her.

Harold Perrineau Jr. and Daniel Dae Kim

Both still cool and handsome.

Isla Fisher

This looks like she bought it at Cost Plus World Market.

Jessica Walter

God I miss her. Hear me out: Jessica Walter on The White Lotus. We were robbed.

Jennifer Love Hewitt

So cute!

Sela Ward

Every time I see her, I think of my mother, who always said Sela Ward was just about perfect. And she was right.

Jason Lee

I know My Name Is Earl was a fun show, but this mustache was not his best era.

CCH Pounder (left) and her husband Boubacar Kone

He passed away in 2016, but they were still married at the time. The couple that color-pops together, stays together. RIP, sir.

Joan and Melissa Rivers

Speaking of resting in peace. I think was of the era when we did morning-after awards coverage with Joan and Melissa on TV Guide Channel, which was SO fun. Joan called it "TV no one watches" in front of the head of the channel, and honestly, doing TV no one watches is exactly my talent level so it was great.

Ellen

Remember when we liked Ellen?

Fergie

I often wonder what she'd have done if she'd been huge during the era of MAJOR stylists. I feel like Fergie Ferg would've wanted to be splashy and camp.

Laura Leighton and Doug Savant

Still married!

Charlize Theron

Those shoes are killing the vibe, Charlize.

Glenn Close

Glenn needs a necklace AND bracelets.

Tyler James Williams

And look where HE is now!

Evangeline Lilly

Dang, Lost was a good show. Most of the time.

Carrie Underwood

Ironically she had, in fact, waited all week for this Sunday night.

Kristen Bell

Oh no, this doesn't serve her at all.

Emilie de Ravin

It really is crazy to look back and remember which celebrities were EVERYWHERE twenty years ago, and how distant it feels.

Jennifer Garner

That's Violet in there! Hi, Violet.

Deborra-Lee Furness and Hugh Jackman

I think we all know where THIS marriage stands (as in, it does not; it is seated). This might have been his X-Men: The Last Stand beard coming in.

Stockard Channing

I just went to a Grease singalong and it always bears repeating how BRILLIANT she is as Rizzo. Some of her little facial expressions during "Beauty School Dropout" are sorcery.

Cynthia Nixon

Is the photographer off-kilter or is she tipping over? Or BOTH?

Blythe Danner

I could see Gwyneth wearing this. Actually, it'd be really cool if Gwyneth DID wear this the next time she's at an event. Sustainability, GOOP!

Kyra Sedgwick

I do miss Brenda Leigh Johnson sometimes.

Kathleen Robertson

The erstwhile Clare Arnold looks very nice, although I am unclear whether she was there representing anything.

Thomas Jane and Patricia Arquette

There's a lot going on here, but all I can focus on is that Thomas Jane is wearing shoes, and normal ones. Not always the case!

Geena Davis

This was the beginning of her lone season of Commander in Chief, a series that started out doing gangbusters and then died out in the course of its lone season.

Sandra Oh

This would be VERY cute for an elopement.

Jane Alexander

Jane won for Warm Springs, and now, 20 years later, she got nominated for Severance. I love that we have not one but TWO tight little arcs like that and both involve older actresses getting meaty roles.

Sarah Chalke

She looks good. Big long necklaces were clearly all the rage.

Sexy back, too.

Kathryn Joosten

Mrs. Landingham! SHE LIVED!

Young Keke Palmer Was Adorable at the 2005 Emmys

So were lots of people.
