(a) Michelle Williams did not attend, for reasons I do not know; (b) EVERYONE had a version Anne's outfit; (c) all these denim choices are tragic.

## Anne Hathaway

Same shoes! I actually think this dress has aged very well. (I also liked her bangs of this time period.)

## Heath Ledger

I feel like, somewhere in Los Angeles, Michelle Williams looked at this and wondered why her beloved did not shine his shoes. (Facially, though, gorgeous, as always.)

## Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake looks great AND spent the entire red carpet mugging hugely like this.

## Maggie Gyllenhaal

Maggie was Jake's date for the event; this look is kind of great, honestly. Her shoes are VERY cute. (She ALSO mugged the entire time.)

## Willem Dafoe and Giada Colagrande

STILL MARRIED.

## Grant Heslov, George Clooney and David Strathairn

David Strathairn, who is so handsome, made some interesting shoe choices here; Clooney is in his FULL movie star period, although August in Italy is an insane time to drape yourself in velvet.

## Donnie Yen and Cissy Wang

Everyone here looks essentially gorgeous. Big finish!

[Let's Flashback to the 2005 Venice Film Festival...And I regret to inform you 2005 was TWENTY YEARS AGO.![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/bf/b9/bfb99790-924d-4e41-a7e6-5e3c6e04fe57/content/images/static-gofugyourself-com/uploads/2025/08/gettyimages-103126282-1755649043.jpg)](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/lets-flashback-to-the-2005-venice-film-festival-08-2025/)
