(Photo by Kevin Mazur/ACMA2021/Getty Images for ACM) I do not know what's happening here, and what's more, I don't NEED to know. I *do* know that I will happily go on this road trip. I assume it is a rip-roaring trip back to 1986, for revenge, and the soundtrack will be chock full of bangers. ## Ingrid Andress in custom Stella McCartney ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/04/GettyImages-1313191286-1618798041.jpg) NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - APRIL 18: In this image released on April 18, Ingrid Andress attends the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry on April 18, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by John Shearer/ACMA2021/Getty Images for ACM) "Ingrid, I had a VISION. What if we did, like, gorgeous COUTURE MERMAID on top and then like....BUSINESS CASUAL on the bottom?" "I don't know. Doesn't that sound sort of discordant?" "Let's just find out!" ## Little Big Town in Carolina Herrera, who knows, and Stella McCartney ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/04/GettyImages-1313191150-1618798030.jpg) NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - APRIL 18: (L-R) In this image released on April 18, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town attend the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry on April 18, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by John Shearer/ACMA2021/Getty Images for ACM) Here, we've got Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town and one thing I always like about this group is that they don't ever really get match-y match-y. They definitely look like they're going to the same party but they don't have to spent the whole night standing next to each other for their outfits to make sense. These are both very fun party dresses. (Jimi looks fine!) ## Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Blount of The War and Treaty ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/04/GettyImages-1313169565-1618798000.jpg) NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - APRIL 18: (L-R) In this image released on April 18, Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Blount of The War and Treaty attend the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards at The Grand Ole Opry on April 18, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by Jason Davis/ACMA2021/Getty Images for ACM) Both Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Blount of The War and Treaty here look good! Tanya, in particular, looks great -- people are really bringing out the party dresses and I am HERE FOR IT. ## Maren Morris in LBV ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/04/GettyImages-1313189450-1618798010.jpg) NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - APRIL 18: In this image released on April 18, Maren Morris attends the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry on April 18, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by John Shearer/ACMA2021/Getty Images for ACM) This might be a personal best for Maren. Do I wish it were more of a color? Of course. But this is very elegant on her. ## Amanda Shires ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/04/GettyImages-1313190228-1618798020.jpg) NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - APRIL 18: In this image released on April 18, Amanda Shires attends the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry on April 18, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by John Shearer/ACMA2021/Getty Images for ACM) I am writing a country music song myself and it's called I LONG FOR LINING. I think the fact that this dress is unlined is distracting, and takes away what's good about it -- the pattern, the color, the detailing. I totally get that some people don't want to do a stereotypical Pretty Princess dress, but I think we could have gotten to a cool place here without the granny panties. ## Martina McBride ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/04/GettyImages-1313198978-1618798072.jpg) NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - APRIL 18: In this image released on April 18, Martina McBride attends the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry on April 18, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by John Shearer/ACMA2021/Getty Images for ACM) I decided that Martina McBride -- who looks banging in this in general -- spent a LOT of her pandemic downtime watching that Sean Connery/Catherine Zeta Jones movie where CZJ crawls through a laser grid. ## Leslie Jordan ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/04/GettyImages-1313196943-1618798061.jpg) NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - APRIL 18: In this image released on April 18, Leslie Jordan attends the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry on April 18, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by John Shearer/ACMA2021/Getty Images for ACM) Is this technically metallic OR fringed? No. Is it EMOTIONALLY metallic AND fringed? YES. I salute you, sir! This is a delight. [As Is Traditional, the Academy Of Country Music Awards Brought Us Beaucoup Fringe and MetallicsRespectfully: Yee haw!![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/bf/b9/bfb99790-924d-4e41-a7e6-5e3c6e04fe57/content/images/static-gofugyourself-com/uploads/2021/04/gettyimages-1313192116-1618798051.jpg)](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/as-is-traditional-the-academy-of-country-music-awards-brought-us-beaucoup-fringe-and-metallics-04-2021/)
