Kim Kardashian in Balenciaga

I've never really been a fan of the wet hair look, and that applies here too, but I think this dress is gorgeous and she looks great in it.

Pete Davidson (in Prada) and Kim Kardashian

And this photo makes me laugh because it feels like Pete just apparated behind her out of nowhere.

Drew Barrymore in Lanvin

Excusing this sort of goofy, fashion-y pose -- I love this slightly unusual, eccentric vibe for Drew. She looks so INTERESTING and I don't mean that as a euphemism for bad. I sincerely like this.

Sophia Bush in Emilia Wickstead

And this is great. (It has a slightly more open back, nothing insane.) Very elegant on her, without being boring.

Sheryl Lee Ralph

SPEAKING OF ELEGANT. (Also: Those shoes!!!) This is the part of the slideshow where I implore you to watch Abbott Elementary if you haven't yet seen it. She's absolutely perfect in her role.

Kenneth Lonergan and J. Smith-Cameron (in John Paul Ataker)

This feels appropriately stately for this event.

Diane Lane in Prada

This is one of those events where I do think folks err on the side of looking conservative -- small c conservative -- which is a scheme I think is probably correct. This might feel a LITTLE underbaked, though. What if we gave her a bit more jewelry?

Kevin McHale

Are Kevin's trousers a little too short? Why don't I understand pants at all anymore?

Ana Navarro

It has pockets!

Stephanie Ruhle

This is dishy! (The color correction went wonky on this pic for some reason -- she did not have this greenish tint IRL.)

Caity Lotz

Something similar happened here; this dress is really neat, though. It's so tactile!

Tim Daly

Behold! It is Tim Daly.

Evan Mock

This whole look is pretty rad; he is SELLING those shoes.

Joy-Ann Reid in Jovani

I love Joy-Ann Reid and she looks great in this.

Ziwe Fumudoh in Pamella Rolland

This is fabulous on her.

Billy Eichner

Is it weird to say that I wish this specific tux was velvet?

JC Chasez and Jennifer Huyoung

This look on JC makes me wonder if he should look into rebooting the concept of barbershop quartets. I suppose an argument could be made the N*SYNC itself was a modern barbershop....quintet?

Fran Drescher

Fran Drescher, as a president herself, understands the tradition of this party very well.

Martha Stewart

I am sad Martha Stewart didn't wear her gold lamé capri pants but she DOES look elegant here.

Corey Stoll

Reasonable!

Mario Van Peebles and Chris Tucker

Reasonable x two!

Judith Light in Jason Wu

Here's the evil president of the Junior League, circa 1985. That's almost entirely a compliment.

Juju Chang

This pattern is so good!

Kyla Pratt

This needed either the big arm OR the dramatic slit, I think.

Jason Isaacs

This is on brand.

Norah O'Donnell

Also on brand. (Not really. I mean, maybe, but like she's not rolling up to 60 Minutes in this. It's good, though!)

Andrea Mitchell

Do we think Norah and Andrew agreed on metallics on their text group chat?

Amy Schneider

AMY!!! She looks FANTASTIC.

Gayle King

This is pretty dishy.

Evan Spiegel and Miranda Kerr (in Sheila Frank)

I gotta say....Miranda looks gorgeous in this.

Symone Sanders

Ooh, I just realized this might be secretly pants?! I love it on her.

Dana Bash

Here's your yearly reminder that Dana and CNN's John King used to be married.

Brooke Shields

Big finish!

It Is Once Again Time For the White House Correspondents' Dinner

And correspondingly -- GET IT!!!??? -- my need to look up how that is punctuated.
