## Isabeau Levito free skate

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/01/shutterstock_editorial_13744531az-1675119929.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Josie Lepe/AP/Shutterstock (13744531az) Isabeau Levito performs during the women's free skate at the U.S. figure skating championships in San Jose, Calif US Championships Figure Skating, San Jose, United States - 27 Jan 2023

This is a lovely costume on our winner, who I am not familiar with, probably because she's just 15 years old and very new on the seniors scene. Last year, she won Junior World's, though, so clearly she's got what it takes! (I feel like every three years, a totally new woman wins Nationals and then we never hear of them again.)

## Isabeau Levito short program

I would have bet my retirement money that she was skating to Carmen, based on this costume, but Wiki says this program is skated to a song called "Una noche más" -- so good thing I didn't make that bet.

## Bradie Tennell free skate

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/01/shutterstock_editorial_13744531ba-1675119942.jpg)

Bradie Tennell, of course, is an old fave and she appears to be very into ombre this year.

I actually love this. It feels like a dress you could wear to non-skating events. The little collar is so chic.

## Amber Glenn free skate

Ombre is happening for all the ladies! Also: Amber is (as far as I can tell) the only openly LGBTQ women's skater on the American squad. I like her braid. She and Bradie look like they could be sisters.

She skates in this to "Hit the Road, Jack," which is perfect and fun.

## Starr Andrews free skate

Andrews finished fourth in the event US Championships Figure Skating, San Jose, United States - 27 Jan 2023

More ombre! Per Wiki, Starr is only the second Black woman "to medal in singles in the Grand Prix era that began in 1995," the first being of course Surya Bonaly (whose backflip TRANSFIXED ME as a youth).

And we've got another short program catsuit! Her short is choreographed to Demi Lovato's "Dancing With the Devil," so this seems right. It also would work if she were skating as Spider-Man!

## Ilia Malinin free skate

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/01/shutterstock_editorial_13746399am-1675120180-scaled.jpg)

This is quite jazzy. I've heard this skate is WILDLY hard and I saw a LOT of tweets float past me that were like, "IT'S ILIA MALININ TIME AT LAST!" so I presume he nailed this. I can only imagine how many American men are thrilled that Nathan Chen has skated off the ice so they can step into his slot. He skates to the Euphoria soundtrack here and I just hope someone tells Zendaya.

## Ilia Malinin short program

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/01/shutterstock_editorial_13744531q-1675119980-scaled.jpg)

This program is skated to "I Put a Spell on You," and I think the gloves are goofy unless he's being VERY literal and skating it as a magician.

## Jason Brown free skate

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/01/shutterstock_editorial_13746399as-1675120196.jpg)

I cannot believe this sweet angel baby has not retired but clearly he's still got the chops!

## Jason Brown short program

This routine is skated to "Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha, which I would have SWORN he'd done before, but Wiki tells me that I just imagined that. Wiki also told me that said song is sung by Josh Groban, but I misread that originally to say that this routine was CHOREOGRAPHED by Josh Groban and I was THRILLED to find out that crazy fact. Alas.

## Andrew Torgashev free skate

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/01/shutterstock_editorial_13746399ag-1675120163-scaled.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Tony Avelar/AP/Shutterstock (13746399ag) Andrew Torgashev performs during the men's free skate at the U.S. figure skating championships in San Jose, Calif US Championships Figure Skating, San Jose, United States - 29 Jan 2023

Ah, yes, the classic This Is The Time on Sprockets When We Skate!!! costume. His parents were Russian ice dancer/pairs skaters, so he's got this thing in his blood. (He was born in Florida, himself.)

## Andrew Torgashev short program

"Men can do ombre too!"

## Maxim Naumov free skate

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/01/shutterstock_editorial_13746399ae-1675120151.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Tony Avelar/AP/Shutterstock (13746399ae) Maxim Naumov performs during the men's free skate at the U.S. figure skating championships in San Jose, Calif US Championships Figure Skating, San Jose, United States - 29 Jan 2023

Who doesn't love a nice lace inset? Maxim's mom and dad were the 1994 world champions in pairs for Russia, although he was born in Connecticut. No one realized that all these skating powerhouses eventually defecting to the United States would one day genetically benefit Team USA! I wonder if his parents know Andrew Torgashev's mom and dad. (Alexander's parents are little bit older but not a ton.)

## Maxim Naumov short program

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Charles Knight/Shutterstock (13744686ay) Maxim Naumov performs during the Men's Short Program US Figure Skating Championship, San Jose, California, USA - 27 Jan 2023

Wiki didn't tell me what music is used for this program, which is rude. Judging from the outfit, though, I'm going with Coldplay. (It's a short program, they're rarely classical music anymore.)

## Madison Chock and Evan Bates, free dance

![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/bf/b9/bfb99790-924d-4e41-a7e6-5e3c6e04fe57/content/images/static-gofugyourself-com/uploads/2023/01/shutterstock_editorial_13745344u-1675120134-scaled.jpg)

She looks amazing and also there is a great optical illusion in this photo that led me to believe that she had a giant beehive hairdo. ALAS! (Evan is like, "no one is here to look at me.")

"Maybe people are here a LITTLE bit to look at me now."

## Michael Parsons, left, and Caroline Green, free dance

From what I can tell, they're a relatively new team, yes? She's 19, he's 27, she used to skate with her brother, he skated with his sister originally. This dress is pretty.

I believe this is skated to "Rhapsody in Blue," which is a classic -- but also a song that leads you to expect someone to wear that color.

## Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko, free dance

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/01/shutterstock_editorial_13745344ai-1675120042-scaled.jpg)

HIS parents are also former Soviet champs! (Hers are not.) I truly think we're seen her look on the red carpet previously. Shout-out to the incredibly sequined people in the background!

I'm concerned Anthony only packed one outfit!

## Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik, free dance

Vadym Kolesnik might have brought the same outfit! He was born in Ukraine. She looks lovely and apparently is also studying NEUROSCIENCE.

These looks are very enjoyably zingy! Having said that....I might have American Male Ice Dancer Face Blindness, because all these dudes look the same to me. One of them needs to shave half his head or something.

## Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, free skate

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/01/shutterstock_editorial_13745344bm-1675120088-scaled.jpg)

Ah, yes, the blessed return of the photo where the female skater looks like she's being toted around like luggage. Apparently, this is skated to Harry Styles and although it's "Sign of the Times," which is a sort of angsty Harry song, I DO think Harry Styles offers a great deal of opportunity for a lot of spangles if you're an ice dancer and folks need to go for that with gusto.

## Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, short program

And this is skated to a Journey number that was in *Stranger Things* and yes, these costumes are ABSOLUTELY right for that. Like...dead on. This is 10000% *Stranger Things* on ice. Well done.

## Emily Chan and Spencer Howe, free skate

These are a little underwhelming at first glance, but apparently this routine is based on *Ghost* and....yeah, that kinda works. Although they could be covered in more clay.

Sassy!

## Ellie Kam and Danny O'Shea, free skate

A lot of grey in the ice dancing this season, which feels a bit unusual. This feels like a Chipper Salute to Cement, a bit.

## Ellie Kam and Danny O'Shea, short program

This routine is skated to T Swizzle's "Lover" and MORE PEOPLE should skate to Taylor Swift. Come on! Those songs have so many feelings in them!

## Sonia Baram and Daniel Tioumentsev, free skate

Neither of these skaters have a Wiki and therefore, I regret to inform them that they doesn't actually exist.

J'adore her simple pink dress, though.
