In which Rose Byrne wins Best Lead Performance (the Independent Spirit Awards have genderless categories), but it doesn't mean too much for the Oscars race because [none of the people nominated in her category are Oscar nominees.](https://www.filmindependent.org/nominee-category/best-lead-performance-film/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) (Not to take away from this achievement, just as a data point.) (Naomi Ackie, also not Oscar nominated, won in Supporting but did not attend.) Inside: a lot of interesting shapes and silhouettes.
