Julia Roberts in Bottega Veneta
The tailcoat tux really works on Julia. But am I crazy, or is it just a little too shaggy and baggy? I'm not saying everything has to be tight, but everything shouldn't be big, either, and here I think the pants and the shirt and the jacket are all off.
You can see from the side that the sleeves also look way too big, and the shirt's kind of bulky, too, maybe? With these proportions, I'd have slicked back her hair to at least take that out of the equation. Otherwise, tailor that thing to be sleeker, at least SOMEWHERE. The pants, if not the jacket.
Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri (in Chanel)
Ayo's is fresh off the runway, which was the day Chanel officially announced her as an ambassador. It's very Old Hollywood. It's nice on her; we'll see if Chanel can give her enough different flavors over time. Certainly New Chanel might have a better chance. Andrew looks as he often does.

This happened right after we saw her in the really busy suit and the bejeweled tie, and we said that approach might work better with simpler clothes. She delivered, but with a suit in very similar proportions. It DOES work better when the tie is the focus.
This happened just this past weekend. The tie appears to be decorated purposefully, not just with a melange of vintage brooches, and I'm into the idea of jazzy neckwear on her. It's great. But the business culottes are not cute. She looks like the Artful Dodger after a really REALLY good day of pickpocketing.
