(Photo by Gilbert Flores/Penske Media via Getty Images) She looks pretty good in this, and honestly, like a young Sheryl Lee Ralph. Where's an *Abbott Elementary* flashback episode?!? ## Kate Hudson in Fendi ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2024/10/GettyImages-2176275829-1728278424.jpg) In this image released on October 6, 2024, Kate Hudson arrives at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special at LA Center Studios in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Gilbert Flores/Penske Media via Getty Images) Fendi described this as a light green "silk fringe" gown, but when I look at it all I see is a very large furry toilet-lid cover. I actually really like it on her, though? Maybe this is Fendi's way of telling us that they all miss Bed, Bath, and Beyond. ## Raye ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2024/10/GettyImages-2176275906-1728278432.jpg) In this image released on October 6, 2024, Raye at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Gilbert Flores/Penske Media via Getty Images) Her head looks fabulous. And she's dressed as the coolest R.A. on your dorm floor. But this is NOT what she wore on-stage. ## Raye ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2024/10/GettyImages-2176342218-1728280840.jpg) In this image released on October 6, 2024, Raye performs at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Gilbert Flores/Penske Media via Getty Images) Instead, she sang "It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World" in a very slinky pink nightie. Do we think no one told her she was supposed to walk the red carpet, so she got marooned out there in something she was not expecting anyone to actually see? ## Nelly ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2024/10/GettyImages-2176276211-1728278450.jpg) In this image released on October 6, 2024, Nelly arrives at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special at LA Center Studios in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Gilbert Flores/Penske Media via Getty Images) He was there to perform a Nelly Greatest Hits medley -- this charting of music history was clearly entirely dictated by whoever said yes -- and he didn't do it in sweatshorts. Although this is at least... a *composed* sweatshorts-based ensemble. ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2024/10/GettyImages-2176341901-1728280831.jpg) In this image released on October 6, 2024, Nelly performs at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Christopher Polk/Penske Media via Getty Images) Rather, he swapped in cargo pants, and added a HUGE pendant to that already VERY HEAVY looking chain around his neck. Surely this counts as cardio weightlifting. ## Mariah Carey in Schiaparelli ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2024/10/GettyImages-2176338281-1728278468.jpg) In this image released on October 6, 2024, Mariah Carey performs at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special at LA Center Studios in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Michael Buckner/Penske Media via Getty Images) Mariah, by contrast, DID decline to appear on the red carpet. And I guess she can do that because she's Mariah. She looks nice, though. Rich, glamorous; exactly as you would want her to be. ## Chaka Khan ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2024/10/GettyImages-2176276016-1728278441.jpg) In this image released on October 6, 2024, Chaka Khan arrives at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special at LA Center Studios in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Gilbert Flores/Penske Media via Getty Images) I trust her when she says she's every woman, but admittedly I don't know very many who wear two belts at once. ## Gladys Knight ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2024/10/GettyImages-2176279528-1728281104.jpg) In this image released on October 6, 2024, Gladys Knight arrives at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special at LA Center Studios in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Gilbert Flores/Penske Media via Getty Images) Gladys, meanwhile, looks like a beautiful octogenarian cat burglar who will leave on that midnight train to Georgia after she's filched all your valuables.
