Amanda Gorman in Prada

Amanda is wearing a Prada coat, chosen because she said she felt a kinship with Miuccia Prada's feminism, in the most perfect sunshine yellow color. That, she told Vogue, was a tribute to Dr. Biden, who first nominated Amanda for this and recalled seeing her perform in a yellow coat before. It was absolutely wonderful, bright and fresh. And DO NOT SLEEP ON THE BEADED MASK. T

I also want to give credit to the gorgeous color of her folio. We do love office supplies, as you know. Her ring here, by the way, is of a caged-bird, as a tribute to Maya Angelou.

The headband was especially lovely at the podium, where it offered the strong punch of a power color. It's a great example of thoughtful dressing with the framing in mind -- she knew she'd be behind a podium, so she made sure there was still plenty to see. She commanded it. Also, I talk with my hands a lot, and I flap like a deranged bird. Amanda delivered the poem with graceful gestures to punctuate it. I would like a clinic, please and thank you.

Striking, too, to see what she had to deliver this to -- as in, the absence of hundreds of thousands of Americans, due to the terrorist actions of a relative few.
