I would not say *Nightbitch* is the *Cocaine Bear* of the fall, necessarily, but in terms of kicky titles and amusing elevator pitches -- "Amy Adams is a mother who believes she turns into a dog" vs. "bear goes on coke-fueled killing spree" -- they're definitely in a similar ballpark. Right now, it seems like this might be Amy's path back to awards season and possibly a way in for [director Marielle Heller](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marielle%5FHeller?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io#Awards%5Fand%5Fnominations), although bear in mind that people said the same thing about *Hustlers* and J.Lo and Lorene Scafaria when it came out, and then that ground to a halt. Let's cross our fingers and enjoy a handful of other highlights from the Toronto International Film Festival -- so much happened this weekend that we might have to cover this across multiple days. 'Tis a blessed month.
