This was the 1991 American Foundation for AIDS Research benefit and everything about this photo is deliciously 1991, including the very faint whisper of Hollywood Montrose in those sunglasses. (I feel like Hollywood Montrose is a big ALT fan, wherever he may be.)

A houndstooth trench? Divine! (And feels very in keeping with Isaac's brand as well, actually.)

"Mid 90s" with Kristen McMenamy

This suit is divine, the jewelry is perfect and everything McMenamy is wearing is just....chef's kiss. (This was at Fashion Week, when it was held at Bryant Park. This particular exit from the tents was a GREAT place to lurk around if you wanted to eyeball celebs -- as you can see in this snap!)

1996, with Anna Wintour

There are SO many photos of him with Anna, because, as a longtime Vogue editor, including stints as news editor and creative director, they were seated next to each other at SO many fashion shows. I feel certain Anna's shirt is Tom Ford for Gucci. And last I read, they were on very very bad terms; I hope they had patched things up over the pandemic.

1997, with Cher

This was at the Met Gala -- the theme of which was "Gianni Versace" in 1997, and which was held a mere four months after Versace was murdered, so I suspect it was emotionally more of a memorial than a gala. This coat is divine, and once again, the lapel pin is glorious. (I hope someone writes a piece about Talley's jewelry.)

on America's Next Top Model - 2003

I guess Dania Ramirez was the guest judge for this episode of ANTM, on which I found ALT to be a TREAT, although he would wax SO poetic during judging that I don't think the girls totally followed him. Everyone looks serious here; someone must have been disrespecting the sanctity of Top Model.

A taffeta trench with ruffled sleeves? For a "Dangerous Liaisons" - themed Met Gala? Which is an AMAZING theme for the Met Gala? Renee and I are both delighted by this. This trench should be IN the Costume Institute, it is divine.

Speaking of divine! EVERYONE here looks wonderful. Selma is wearing Isaac Mizrahi, and this dress is so fantastic that Fashionista just wrote an entire piece about it. She and ALT arrived together; I hope his caftan is Mizrahi too (I assume so, given the color palette). OdlR, of course, looks as endlessly elegant as ever.

2005, with Oprah Winfrey

The man could also wear a classic tuxedo perfectly. (Actors who complain about not being able to get clothing tailored need to look at this! Talley was 6'6!) Not for nothing, but Oprah also looks amazing here.

This was backstage at the runway show for "Sweetface by Jennifer Lopez and Andy Hilfiger," which I absolutely forgot about! There were SO many photos of J Lo and ALT over the years and she clearly adores him in all of them, it's very sweet.

This was at the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2006 Fashion Show at NY State Armory and it's another wonderful coat. ALT loved an animal skin, for better or worse.

Yes, here he is with Britney Spears and Kimora Lee Simmons at the Baby Phat show. (I was present at this event!!!! Baby Phat shows were always incredibly fun and chaotic -- I went to one where a literal physical fight broke out over a stolen front row seat. 50 Cent was involved! Anyway, they were fun and you can tell here. I don't remember Britney being there but I DO remember ALT's fur hat, which does tell you something.)

He wore this to more than one funeral, although this photo is from Isabella Blow's. It is gorgeous and dramatic. You know you are a superstar when you own a funeral cape. I am absolutely sincere about this.

Informative Caption had a LOT to say about this Met Gala but all you need to know is that this was the year the theme was SUPERHEROES, and also ALT wrote about this outfit, and Venus's, for Vogue himself. The cape is custom, by Karl Lagerfeld (at Chanel) and it IS perfectly superhero-y. Don't they look like they're having fun?

This is so glam! This was the 'Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty' Met Gala, and while I love this angle of it....

Here, he's en route to the Charles James Met Gala, and this is, of course, absolutely perfect for that. (Fun fact, he's carried that little Obama bag for years prior to this.)

Here, ALT is talking to Tamron Hall and Kate Novack about The Gospel According to Andre, which is a documentary Novack made about him. This caftan is GORGEOUS.

And this is VERY cool (and both Barry Jenkins and Regina King look great). I'm sure they're both remembering this, and other moments, today. André Leon Talley was, after all, quite unforgettable. I hope his friends and family find some measure of peace in knowing how many people across the world will remember him always.
