I'm into this sharp combo on Coco. Totally works for me, and the little criss-cross in the front is cute. Thumbs up, New Balance.

I also like her colorful shoes. ALSO, tennis action shots are, as ever, the best.

Okay, not all tennis photos work out. (Just kidding, this was an intentional slow shutter speed experiment and it really amuses me.)
Danielle Collins

Poor Collins couldn't close the door against Iga, has announced she's retiring this year, AND got stuck playing in labia shorts.
Naomi Osaka

Naomi came out in great reflective style, but sadly couldn't make a dent. It's her first one back after a WHILE, though. Hopefully she hangs around long enough to get it back.

I enjoy the shiny part of her top.
Jelena Ostapenko

Jelena's outfit is hilarious to me. The front cut looks like she's a casino waitress, or working in a Ritz Carlton spa or something.

I thought you'd want to see the matching hidden striped shorts.

Also, her serving faces are THE BEST. They constantly zoomed in on her during her toss but then let the faces speak for themselves. They're even better than her indignant faces, of which there are many in a given match. I do dislike how they try and covertly body shame her, though. She's clearly fit and a freaking top-ranked pro tennis player, but Stubbs and Shriver more than once said things like, "She might not LOOK like she'd be fast," or something, and like... I know what you mean, ladies. Stop it.
Aryna Sabalenka
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - JANUARY 19: Aryna Sabalenka plays a forehand in their round three singles match against Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine during the 2024 Australian Open at Melbourne Park on January 19, 2024 in Melbourne, Australia. (Photo by Phil Walter/Getty Images)
I like the red and green on Sabalenka. She's really grown on me -- she is INTENSE on the court and sometimes too crabby for me there, in a way that I think makes people want to compartmentalize her into the Noted Crank file. But then in her interviews she seems friendly and makes gentle jokes and I think even some of the other players have been like, "No you guys, she's totally nice!"
Paula Badosa

Paula has the muddy version. Nike has leaned into this milky hot chocolate color for this Slam, and I personally cannot stand it.
Mirra Andreeva

Mirra looked like human sunshine in this, but her shoes are so dingy-looking by comparison. They need something zippier.

SERIOUSLY, the more I see those Nike shoes, the more they hurt my insides.
Qinwen Zheng

I just realized this is the same dress and I accidentally got it twice. Well! Enjoy!
Victoria Azarenka

Vika wore hers sometimes with leggings, and sometimes without. She's been at the fore of normalizing women making the choice for pants or shorts. I am NOT a fan of the dusty lavender.
Ajla Tomljanovic

This brand apparently had a mild meld with Nike.
Peyton Stearns

I like this! Good colors, cute little pleats.
Iga Swiatek

Iga got this in white and in black, and they're both pretty good. The hot pink is always a win for me.
Sloane Stephens

As does Alycia. That one's cuter.
Taylah Preston

Sure! When in doubt, a monochrome situation never hurts. I'm sure it's hard for the younger lower-ranked players who don't have fancy sponsorships yet.
Caroline Garcia

I LOVE this tennis dress. A+++. They just needed to get her some dark blue shoes.
Camila Giorgi

Barbiecore is alive and well on the courts of Melbourne.

This is ... fine. It's fine! Fine is fine!
Jessica Pegula

This sort of looks like a bib, or a pinny, where you would put them on over your shirt in PE to mark which team you were on.
Elina Svitolina

This one, the pattern didn't stretch across the whole back, so anytime a player turned around it seemed like they had on a back brace.
Maria Timofeeva

This feels a little half-assed.
Ons Jabeur

This outfit depresses me as much as her early exit did.
Beatriz Haddad-Maia

Sure! Not reinventing the wheel, but also not weird.
Elena Rybakina

Same here. I like the stripes around her arm and neck holes.
Karen Khachanov

Tennis Hemsworth was rocking a quarter-zip. If that. An eighth-zip. It needed coordinating shorts.
Tsitsipas

Middling. Like his play! (Actually that match with Fritz was good; it just wasn't his day.)
Daniil Medvedev

A couple of the men had these shoes that looked like they were dipped in matching rubber. Or like they're wearing a sleeve over their actual shoe, like they're curlers or something.

Orange and blue are a hit in our house (Syracuse)(just Kevin though; they are insufficiently orange for Dylan).
Tomas Machac

I don't hate the yellow on Big Foe. He crashed out early though, so it may be cursed for him now.
Grigor Dimitrov

He's a young newcomer on the scene, who wants you to know that his international Limbo ranking is really quite high.

But even more underwhelmed by this one. We saw it in the women's section, but it's somehow even worse with the black shorts. What is HAPPENING, Nike?

He and Iga have the same sponsor, so this is the Men's Tour version of that outfit. Needs more pink.

I wish he'd made it through further. I love it when he commentates, though. He puts on his cute glasses. Yes, I know we can't see them during the match, but just knowing they're there is nice. His shirt is so good.
Andrey Rublev

I hope this is color-changing, and the green seeps further and further into the black the deeper he gets in the tourney.

GET HIM, CARLOS. STRETCH. (Carlos, too, is picking up where Rafa left off in terms of giving us shoulder views. Thank you, sir.)
