See? Yes, she looks very much the Grande Dame, but this is a REAL DRESS with ACTUAL CONSTRUCTION and she's not wearing a banana clip. FINALLY, she's wearing something that says, "HELEN MIRREN I'M COMING FOR YOU," which I think is all we've really wanted, anyway.

And this, from earlier in the week, is maybe a little caftan-adjacent, but the color is swell and she looks very easy-breezy Have A Drink on the Lanai, which feels like very much the other side of the Meryl Streep coin. Can't wait to see what she pulls out for the Oscars.

COME ON," and she was all, "oh, fine, honey, what do you want me to wear?" and Mamie Gummer -- who, I'd just like to say, is so freaking funny on The Good Wife -- was like, "please, can you just call someone to figure this out?" and Meryl is all, "oh, I don't know. I have so much to do otherwise. Also, I'm Meryl Streep," and then Mamie went, "MOM," and then Meryl just laughed and hung up on her.
