This is a classic Scrolldown Fug for me. It's perfectly reasonable...and then it EXPLODES into Morticia Addams's shower curtain.

This is surprisingly saucy from Sally Hawkins. I like it! Are we working toward an Oscars where she wears a cocktail mini-dress?

I think the black dress code -- it was #TimesUp's inaugural event in the UK -- worked in Margot's favor, because I cannot EXACTLY tell what this dress is doing, and I suspect it's not good, and yet because the fabric is so dark, it's hard to say for sure. Just move past us quickly, girl!

This is very sedate. It feels a bit, "well, I am delighted you remembered me and I'm DEFINITELY not going to win, but I might as well pick up something that will age well and I can wear later in life."

Frances McDormand in Valentino

Embargo - do not publish until broadcast Mandatory Credit: Photo by James Gourley/BAFTA/REX/Shutterstock (9420994gt) Frances McDormand - Leading Actress - 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' 71st British Academy Film Awards, Show, Royal Albert Hall, London, UK - 18 Feb 2018

Apparently, McDormand's speech was about why she didn't wear full-on black; in part she said, "But I want you to know that I stand in full solidarity with my sisters tonight in black. I also want to say that I appreciate a well organized act of civil disobedience." (One of the reasons that I personally thought the Duchess of Cambridge should have worn black [a topic that has been quite divisive] is because she wasn't going to win an award, nor be interviewed, so her clothes were going to have to do the speaking for her.) For one moment, I thought her dress was covered in tampons (they are lipsticks) and I was going to be like, "well, THERE is a statement!" Another disappointment for me!
