This is Dior, and once again we can add a dress to the list I'm calling Stuff Jennifer Lawrence Didn't Get -- although, honestly, at this point, Dior isn't wrong to be giving Lupita their very best, as I think she's getting more fashion coverage than J Law is at the moment, in part because Lawrence has stopped showing up for things (I think her Mockingjay filming schedule is just beyond punishing and she probably also has an ulcer) and in part because she's been totally killing it. And I think we're at a point where we can predict what Lupita's going to be wearing to the Oscars: simple, classic lines; a bold color; perfect fit. It's sort of relaxing. There are some actresses whose stylistic choices stress me out -- Jessica Chastain, for instance. God only knows what she's going to wear half the time -- but Lupita is like a spa day. Whatever happens, odds are good that we're all going to feel great at the end of it.

This is a pre-BAFTAs party that Asprey held, and I have to say that although it's not inelegant, I don't really like it. It's too twee for Lupita, and simultaneously too young AND too old for her. It's kind of nice to know, though, that she isn't ALWAYS perfect.
