This type of boat is apparently called a péniche, and I have terrible spatial sense but for 44 models and 44 expensive outfits it doesn't LOOK super possible to keep one's distance?

Yseult

Yseult is  25-year old French singer who got her break on Nouvelle Star -- French Idol, basically -- and is on the rise over there. I hope she frames this. The cape, the gloves, her beautiful hair, her head reared back as she belts... it's fab.

I wonder if this was a clusterf*ck, though. I think primarily it was for TikTok, so it didn't have to look as seamless from the outside as it was supposed to on that platform -- and consequently when I look at the pics, I get distracted by all the logistics and the equipment and such.

That's a very cool dress. It does not, perhaps, seem that fittings were able to be very precise.

This feels like newer Balmain. It's like Joan of Arc meets In Flanders Fields.

Cindy Bruna

Ah, yes, the Wicker Chair dress.

This sultry butterfly of a gown is more alluring to me.

That's the back of Cindy's dress there. I also love the back of that OTHER gown. What a wow factor.

It makes you wonder why Balmain doesn't do more of this.

The front is deceptively simple. I'd have loved to see that during awards season.

And THAT one. I'd love to see a more complete look at it. Put that whole look on Danai Gurira.

This is also stunning. It has a Classic Oscar de la Renta feel to it. Blake Lively would love it.

That's a shot of the back. Also of general mayhem.

This does show a better sense of the spacing.

The trouble with being on a boat is that you really do have to give it up to the elements, in the end. The dresses are gonna do what they're gonna do, and so will the wind, and the current, and whatever electrical cords are lying on the floor of the boat.

Pretty sure this is one of the gowns Kim Kardashian wore.

Elton John totally has a downstairs half-bath with this as wallpaper, and you cannot convince me otherwise.

Olivier looks very jauntily nautical here. He just needs a cap, slightly askew.

I feel like the boat drivers were like, "WOOHOO! FINALLY, SOMETHING TO DO!"

Not too bad...

... not too bad at all...

Indeed, to quote Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society, "Not a bad way to spend an evening, eh?" At least, from afar.

Balmain Threw a Fashion Party on the Seine
It was conceived as a celebration of the end of Paris's lockdown.
