I feel like I should hate this, right? Amy Brenneman wore the fancy gold skirted version of this aesthetic, and I should probably kvetch that Cate didn't do the same. But I have to be honest: She looks luminous. Yes, this is plain (though I see that shiny little fringed hem there), and yes, she looks a bit like she's a nominee at The Crocodile Hunter Awards. I hope she wins for Excellence in Making You Think She'd Be Good at Crocodile Hunting, Without Any Actionable Evidence. However, her makeup is perfect, her bracelet rules, and I don't know, her easy glamour is making me look past those things. I don't think I ever want to SEE this again? But damn if this isn't a great example of the wearer elevating the outfit a thousand levels higher than it should be.

People's makeup artists were ON POINT this evening. Wow. As for the dress... I might have liked it better if the stitching was not so aggressively placed next to her boobs. It looks a bit like a tarp. (I call this color Exuberant Manure.)

Ooh, I like the archival pick for her. This is a very similar aura to what she wore for the Globes and I suspect we'll see it repeated. Simple, beautifully fitted, good jewels, loveliness all around. Also, this COULD secretly be a deep burgundy or something? Don't tell me.

This one also looked like a deep purpley-red in some lights, but seems pretty clearly brown here. Which is a quick way to have her stylist prove me so wrong. Anyway, this is a bit Mother of the Bride on her.
