# Better Played: Viola Davis in St. John at the NAACP Image Awards

Her wrists seem under accessorized, but the gown is lovely on her -- and so much less aggressive than [the violet thing that engulfed her so throughly last week](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/sag-awards-fug-or-fab-viola-davis-in-zac-posen-02-2016/). It's also rather astonishing to realize this vibrant, exquisite person is the same woman Annie Leibowitz made look so tired and bothered on that *Vanity Fair* cover. I like to think this entire look -- a simple but elegant dress, and that flawless face -- was a quiet rebuttal of that entire affair.
