I really didn't like those terrible shirt-dresses he flung at people, but this is very well-made and interesting on her, with a perfect necklace. She looks like a very sexy sorceress. And Elphaba, who IS green but WEARS black, definitely would want one.
Kylie Jenner in 2023 Gaultier

So, I wholly support going archival, but on a night that's honoring the year in fashion I think it's a LITTLE weird not to wear something current. It comes off like she's not in genuine conversation with the event itself, which... she honestly probably is not; I think she's just there to try and cement herself as The Fashion Kardashian right now. (Yes, she's a Jenner, but whatever, same word, different font.)

Not so long ago, Kylie probably would have been in this.
Erykah Badu

Whether you like what she does or even understand it half the time -- I often strike out on both counts -- it's hard to argue her as a fashion icon award recipient. Who else is so consistently distinctive?
Ciara in Vera Wang

Ciara looks like a Bravolebrity whose staff walked out, so she tied her jacket around her waist, pulled on the rubber gloves, hid herself behind some glasses, and did the dishes.
Prabal Gurung

I often ignore the designers (or despair of them; Vera Wang usually looks so awful), but Prabal is so dashing here. I love the jacket.

"Make me look like Ruth Bader Ginsberg, but also a clown." And Ruth Booboo Gigglesberg it was.
Alex Consani in Area

This dress was part of a collection that paid tribute to craftsmanship -- and the hands that do the work -- but it looks like a horror film about what the world is trying to do to women's bodily autonomy.

"And I would like to look like a giant ruined pair of stockings." They're 2 for 2.

I am not inspired by this at all. This combination does not sing for me.

I was with her all the way until she didn't tie her shoes. TIE YOUR SHOES.
Suni Lee

This is a Grown Up Outfit -- since we've all followed her gymnastics career for so long, I would not be surprised if she wanted to take things in a more sophisticated direction now that she's been to two Olympics -- but the coat is getting in the way of seeing what's really happening.
GloRilla

I was trying to figure out who her stylist is, and from her Instagram, this type of thing is basically what she wears all the time. Why not stretch yourself at the CFDAs, of all places?!? This is just underwear!

This brand won Womenswear Designer of the Year. I am not... sure this is a shining example?
Lucy Liu

I would rethink the length of her trousers.
Kathryn Hahn

I kind of wish she'd gone sexier with the hair with that prim dress -- like a full Blake Lively wild and curly and free situation.
Lukita Maxwell

This is... fine? She's on Shrinking (and is delightful on it), and should be such a fun canvas for a stylist to launch her, but this is giving me the blahs.
Nicole Richie

I was going to say, "She's come so far in 20 years," but like... I HOPE so. It's been TWENTY YEARS. And yet still: boring.
Hari Nef

THIS at least has some texture and interest from the shredded leather.
Meghann Fahy

As ever, her head is perfect, but her dress is a little on the dull side. FASHION OSCARS, y'all.
Rebecca Hall

I don't think this benefits from the pants AND the extra hankies sewn up and down the sides, but at least it's DOING something.
Yseult

I hope this made it through the night intact. She'll need it on Thursday night for her Bat out of Hell costume.
