I've decided that's a wig. It just LOOKS like it's not an actual dye job to me. Anyway, this is a clear Lady Lagerfeld, which is a particularly bold choice. She posted a photo of herself snuggling up to Lagerfeld, and one commenter was basically like, "This is giving real 'But he was nice to me once!' energy." That made me laugh.

I hope Jenna doesn't dive in too fast with Thom Browne -- his clothes have a way of becoming someone's entire identity, and it's so much better to branch out. This has a saucy saloon lady look that wigs me out less when I remember our Wednesday Addams is 20 and thus not actually in high school. I'm sure Karl would've loved it, but it's also a whole lot. That's probably WHY he would have loved it.

US actress Jenna Ortega arrives on the red carpet for the 2023 Met Gala, the annual benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, in New York, New York, USA, 01 May 2023. The theme of this year's event is the Met Costume Institute's exhibition, 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.'

The train IS giving excellent stair drama, which as far as I'm concerned should be everyone's first Met Gala box to check.

I am not at ALL surprised to see Bella in Thom Browne. It works on them; this is ritzy and fun, but also, as I noted, Thom Browne loves to bring The Youngs into the fold. (I don't mean that in a creepy way -- I just think he's got an eye for the ones who can, or are willing to try to, carry his level of whimsy.)

I thought for sure this was also Thom Browne -- we'd just seen Janelle Monae struggle along in one of his hoop confections, and Cardi had similar issues. But it's not. I like it! The different uses of flowers were fun this year, and the whole thing is prim on her in a way we don't usually get. She looks charming. Like a fun governess. Oh my God, please give us a Cardi B Mary Poppins.

I don't know if I'm quite enraptured by how the bodice is working itself out there on her torso? The rest of it feels delicate and ethereal. I often accidentally call her phoebe Bridgerton and I COULD see this on that show.

Since the gloves are more of an accessory, she landed here. This dress is sculptural and great in a way that makes me miss Marc.

I admit I am not really feeling the Paris Hilton Renaissance, or whatever it is we're doing here. She toppled HARD into the bronzer and appears to be getting choked by her collar?!? All that said, though, she still looks perfectly fine in this.

I sincerely thought for a second that this photo was mislabeled and it was Julia Fox. Sienna probably would not love that. Her glove there is clearly Karl. This is fine. I am generally unmoved by her? You could as easily tell me she's at a Gatsby New Year's Eve party.

It's a little hard to see, but her dress's left side has a big poofy sleeve that ends up coming across like a big wall between her and Nick. On their red carpet interview it was kind of awkward. No one's fault; if he'd stood on the other side, you'd miss THAT detail.

Obviously this is on theme, being vintage Chanel, but I also find it terribly dull and forgettable. There's no personality to it.

That dress fits her TO A TEE. Wow. It's really well done. I get the head-styling, though I don't know if I love it? But the edge makes sense with the leather.

This is ALSO a glove-heavy slideshow. When in doubt, toss on some leather hand covers and call it Karl. The chains and the mesh also do make sense. Truly, lots of people really did seem to find this theme accessible.

Diddy was EXTREMELY excited to say this was Sean John's first outing at the Met (that's his own label), and then proceeded to almost pass out while talking to La La because he was so hot. He actually borrowed some Kleenex to try and dab at himself, and then was like, "I have to go I am so hot, I need to... get this cape sorted out," which was NOT overall the best advertisement for the whole thing, but the attempt was good. And presumably he did not faint.
