My theory on James Bond is that when it comes to the older films, your favorite Bond is always your first. All these feel to me like they were from a simpler age when things weren't as spit-shined and orchestrated, right? And then in 2015 they apparently retroactively decided that in 1994 it was Keanu Reeves? Also, the inset boxes on that cover remind me that Leonardo DiCaprio has never been chosen. Or, maybe he said no, but I can't imagine. I wonder if he was too young, or looked too young, for them to be comfortable picking him after *Titanic*? Runaway Bride came out in 1999, re-pairing him with Julia Roberts, and then Autumn in New York came out the next year and had him with Winona Ryder. That is a hideous, hideous cover design. Second... sigh. (This WAS back when I was super into Matt Damon, so it does make sense in retrospect -- this was circa *Bourne.*) I would note, however, that Dempsey down there is perhaps looking sexier than Matt is in this cover. Damon looks like he needs a little chemical peel and some moisturizer. If you only knew what the next decade would bring, Matty boy. It's not like Blake is a hideous beast-creature, or anything, obviously! He's a perfectly fine looking dude, and this photo is a good one. It's VERY Forearm-Focused, which is always a good call with these things. There's a dash of dimple, and a dollop of scruff. It's fine. It's FINE.
