We begin with the year of his breakthrough in Atlanta. Would you like to cry? Then please know that his mother had recently died in a car accident, so he went through her jewelry box and took some pieces he could wear on red carpets as a way of keeping her close to him. You'll see these beads, or some like them, a few times -- including in four out of the next five photos.

His consistency with necklaces is amazing, and if he's still using his mom's OR even if he's just doing it as a lasting tribute... I mean, what a love. This is so casually stylish.
