I may have oversold the surprise, but nonetheless: This LOOKS like a simple white Courthouse Wedding frock from Macy's, but it's does have a dark side, and I shall show it to you at the end (in truth, it's because the thumbnails from the first few slides show up on the homepage and blah blah blah it's a boring reason).

Anne looks nice in this tux. In 2009 apparently we weren't into ankle-length pants, so she's got the split hems that are draping her feet in fabric. It's a bit clunky AND unfair to her sparkly shoes, but hey, it could be worse.

Anne tried, but her smile never quite reached her eyes in about 95 percent of these photos. She knew. She KNEW everyone in this movie is a horrible person and that the only acceptable ending would be them both getting sucked into the earth's core.

So, she bravely tacked a TRULY ENORMOUS hairpiece onto her head and soldiered forth.

Kate, meanwhile, seems to have allowed one of the photographers to braid her hair WHILE he or she was taking pictures of other things.

The dress is pretty good, though! It's interesting! From the front she looks very nice. It's only the back side where you realize her hair was done by someone with ten thumbs.

ET VOILA, the other side of Anne's first dress. It's not half-romper, or half-sheer, or anything. But when you see it this way, it absolutely looks like she attached herself to a tablecloth. Maybe the OTHER half of the black dress IS a romper and she was like OH HELL NO, HAND ME THE LINENS.
