# Can Penelope Cruz Sell You On This Chanel?

Penelope Cruz is in what might turn out to be the buzziest movie at Venice this year. In *Bunker*, she and Javier Bardem play a couple whose marriage is tested when he agrees to build a survivalist's hidey-hole. The film received a 15-and-a-half minute standing ovation, the second-longest in Venice history, which reportedly brought her to tears. I am sure this was from joy, but also, imagine having to stand in front of a crowd for 15 minutes while they watch you react to their endless applause, and then everyone in the film gets called forward for *more* applause. At a certain point, what do you even do with yourself? Clap along, if you feel like a room without a roof? And aren't all those people in the room SO TIRED of smacking their hands together? Is it an endurance contest at this point? I am going to start the Noted Crank Annual Film Festival and we will specifically BAN ovations and perhaps all clapping, or even acknowledgments that anyone associated with the movie is there. No sucking up; just sucking down sodas.
