I quite like the punk head and the princess gown, even if the gown itself is bland. It almost feels like it's inspired by Kristen Stewart.

The wet hair is what it is, but at least I can tell it's in service of a very specific aesthetic. Also, given how many I have to use just to get off certain mascara, I sometimes enjoy imagining how many cotton pads will be needed to get off all that makeup.

Paul Mescal

Very handsome. He's in the movie that was premiering, The History of Sound, alongside a sadly absent Josh O'Connor. We miss your Fashion Boi sensibilities, Josh.

Aishwarya Rai

This is lovely, and also, I can't help wondering if she would have gone further over the top if Cannes had not slapped a surprise dress code on everyone the day before the festival started.

Taraji P. Henson

Every bodice is pinchy these days. Obviously we all have flesh, but these people also have tailors. I like this, though, it's so tactile.

Ciara

This feels half-baked, like a discount take on a big idea.

This is quietly elegant.

Snoozy. I also forgot she and Paul Mescal -- I just accidentally called him by the monomer Pescal -- either are or were dating, which might be why she's here.

Jenny Slate

This would be gorgeous if lined, but we're looking at a sad beige bralet instead.

Michelle Rodriguez

I'm happy to see her, too, but I can't get over the illusion that her diamond necklace is basically unspooling out of her neck.

A BIT too much going on with this one. More is just... more.

Cinderella waited and waited for her fairy godmother to finish the job, but alas, it was poker night with the ladies from Sleeping Beauty and she plum forgot.

Plumage!

Wow. This is spectacular on her.

That bodice feels half-assed.

And THIS is like the bonkers Skims version of that dress. Are we reinventing the strapless bra now? That reminds me of one of those little weighted leather objects that hold open books.

Coco Rocha

Reader, I CHORTLED. Thank you to these poor dismembered shirts for their service to comedy, however potentially unintentional.
