So much is made of The Chest that I'm EXTREMELY PLEASED to see how well this fits her. Too often, she's forced to shove them up too high or tamp them down somehow or otherwise make concessions because nobody else will, but this rises up to meet her. The bodice is not a boring sweetheart, nor a wrap, nor a vee; it's actually got a lot of interest on it, in a way she normally seems to avoid, but it's working beautifully for her. It just looks like a dress where somebody actually THOUGHT about her and wanted her to look her best. I appreciate that so much. This woman seems to have an ungodly hard time of it, some of which may be down to her own personal tastes, but a lot of which is, I think, down to people being stupid. So way to go, Alberta Ferretti, for seizing the day and being the smart one.
I do not appreciate that whoever wrangled her wig today just dumped it on her head so unceremoniously. Do we think the wind was blowing it askew? It just looks... perched. Like it's not quite pulled down just-so.
Also, I like that even this close up to the dress, where I can see traces of the scaffolding under the beading, I still think it looks great. It's all carefully and subtly done and the overall effect is, to me, still extremely wonderful.
And the back! I have a tiny quibble with how it's designed to look like a shirt that's straining to stay buttoned, but... I can deal. I can hang with that.
If I'm not bringing you Bonus Gosling, I'm not doing my job.
