Carolina Herrera FW 2022

This is the kind of look that makes me wish I ever needed to storm into someone's office, slam paperwork down on the desk, and hiss, "Explain yourself."

This is an ode to Carolina Herrera's signature look -- the long skirt and white blouse -- and it's nice to see it on the runway again in some form. (You may recall that at her final show, they sent out a bunch of versions of this, in different colors.)

This is so sexy. And proof positive that you don't need to be naked to achieve that effect. The sultry way it drapes off the shoulder is wonderful. So many people would slay this.

Whereas this is... mystifying.

"Let's just glue shoulder pads to our boobs," said no one, ever.

WHAT? NO.

I can't imagine that adornment is super practical, but look at the tailoring on that coat. Luxe as hell.

I also definitely want this cape in my life.

That is a wonderful fabric -- see what I mean about how the pattern-makers will be missed? -- but I'm not sold on how it's been used.

I cannot imagine Mrs. Herrera saying, "We MUST get in the catsuit business," but I guess that's what happens when you step down from your brand. And in truth this may be separates that just FEEL snug like a catsuit.

That ought to be a hit.

And we will SURELY see this.

This looked better in motion -- I happened to see some in people's Instagram stories, and it was very swingy. I could see Angela Bassett giving it a good whirl.

HELLO. This is what we came for. I want someone to win an Oscar in this. Let's be real, I also want that person to be Kirsten Dunst. I don't think this is her style, though.

So sleek. Renee Zellweger has a crime miniseries coming out and it'd be fun to see her come back to Herrera in a different silhouette than she usually picked.
