Here is our titular sasspot, running through the streets of New York. Obviously we have no context for this, so I don't know if she's escaping from Miss Hannigan or just scurrying around freely. But those are fancy kicks for an orphan.
She is so cute. I hope they're able to make her plucky, and spunky, rather than lippy and annoying like that time they made Raven Symone be the new kid on The Cosby Show.
Rose Byrne here is Grace Farrell, and Bobby Cannavale is some new character described as a bulldog political adviser. Because what "Annie" really needs is more focus on Daddy Warbucks's work and aspirations. I DO hope they get Obama to cameo as himself for "Tomorrow." CAN YOU IMAGINE.
Speaking of whom, Daddy Warbucks has been renamed Benjamin Stacks. I mean... sure. "Daddy Warbucks" is very precious. But are we maybe trying too hard, "Annie" producers? I suppose since it's a modern retelling, they had to do something, but will half of this even make sense modernized? Other than the fact that the economy sucks and we're all poor except for Jamie Foxx?
I assume this is some ill-conceived love triangle, also, which... again, too much. Grace is dressed in the mixed colors of the old Texas Longhorns/Texas A&M rivalry that ceased to be once A&M moved to the SEC. So I like to think her character bio is, "Grace Farrell: thirty-something, efficient, smart, and a total college football traditionalist who wants to punch conference realignment in the warbucks."
