Today is when I learned this was a shirt, and not a gown. Cate paired it in Venice with some wide-legged trousers, and it looks fine and all -- it's an ornate and lovely top -- but the pants aren't as impactful for me as the original sighting...

I cannot tell a lie: Pants you might wear to your law office for a deposition are not as thrilling as this skirt. I prefer all the styling here, also.

She did bring the suit jacket for some casual shoulder-draping, which gives it an interesting edge that I wasn't expecting. Frankly, I LOVE that she changed it up -- it's cool to see how a top like that can be worn differently -- but I still think my preference is the skirt.
