Rihanna in Y Project
This is a lot of denim. But, does Rihanna EVER get overwhelmed by anything? This is a denim muumuu, separate jeans if the runway photo is to be believed, and boots. It's so much. And it all kind of melds together to look like one massive garment, and yet she just sort of rolls through it, because nothing stomps on Rihanna.
It REALLY popped against the black. She's definitely our overlord.
Zendaya in 2001 Versace
There was also a small award night, at which Zendaya won Star of the Year. I'll pepper those pics in as well. Law is credited with styling this -- though not as of yet on his OWN Instagram, so we'll see, though I believe it because it's vintage. This may also have been in the works before her LV deal went through, unless we're ALSO getting a look at how big a loophole it has in it. I am optimistic, cautiously. It's gorgeous and fits her beautifully. Do I wish for a deeper lip? Yes, but when is that ever NOT the case?
Dominique Fishback
Dominique, fresh from Swarm, is going to be in the new Transformers movie. This is a franchise I keep forgetting exists, even through they're all apparently really successful? I guess I have a Transformers-size brain hole. Anyway, she looks lovely here.
Anthony Ramos
Hmm. Well, I've liked things BETTER than this? Is it the hair? It might be the hair.
Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback
They won an award for being rising stars, and indeed, you know you've made it in this town when you can have someone rig you an extensive system of custom boob supports.
Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu, Sabrina Wu, Ashley Park
They're all in Joy Ride, and were given an award for Best Comedic Ensemble. (It's so funny to have a group handing out statues for stuff nobody has seen because it's not OUT yet, not that nobody has seen because it's a boring slate.) Stephanie played it safe, but effectively. Sabrina is camouflaged in case they can find a nearby rain forest (LA IS very green right now, probably temporarily). Sherry's dress is also fun, and as usual Ashley's outfit is cockamamie. Her turtleneck is also her bra.
Melissa McCarthy
Oh dear. What Victorian widow's lamp is she wearing?
John Krasinski
I guess they're doing ANOTHER Quiet Place movie? John looks nice. I had completely forgotten about the Some Good News brouhaha (which came up yesterday) where he sold the concept of his YouTube show during the pandemic for big money, even though it was largely built on other people's content, and then it died in development. They DID donate $2 million in merch sales to charity? It's tough -- it's not his fault that someone wanted to hand him a bunch of money for the concept (it would be hard to have the fortitude to turn it down, if you were an actor thinking that maybe nothing would ever shoot ever again), and also not his fault that CBS eventually was like, "Never mind, that was a dumb impulse, let's kill it." But I also get that the optics of WHEN it happened are Not Some Good News.
CinemaCon Day 4 - Paramount and Lionsgate, CinemaCon 2023, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - 27 Apr 2023
Seth is there for his new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, dressed in turtle green, appropriately.
Chris Aronson
However, Paramount's distribution chief did him one better and actually came up out of a "sewer" dressed as Michelangelo. I love that Seth was like, "... you know what, chief, you got this, I'm gonna let you have the moment by yourself."
