'Black Mass' photocall, 72nd Venice Film Festival, Italy - 04 Sep 2015
WEARING VALENTINO
This was in 2015, when Dakota was promoting Black Mass, the movie about Whitey Bulger that starred Johnny Depp. She looks really good in this, but tense, which I like to interpret as her not being very happy to have to see Johnny Depp again.

WEARING PRADA
This is a wisp of a dress. It's so close to her skin tone. And in true Prada fashion, I have to blink to see if those are nipple shadows, or boob darts, but I'm PRETTY SURE this is very thin and we're seeing her actual contours. Dakota was in the middle of the Fifty Shades stuff at this point, so maybe she'd just gotten inured to whether anyone could see her nipples.

'A Bigger Splash' photocall, 72nd Venice Film Festival, Italy - 06 Sep 2015 WEARING RODARTE
This is ALSO 2015, for "A Bigger Splash," a movie I had never heard of but which Wikipedia says "is the second installment in [Luca] Guadagnino's self-described Desire trilogy, following I Am Love (2009) and preceding Call Me by Your Name (2017)." Ralph Fiennes and SWINTON were in it. WHO KNEW. This Rodarte is completely adorable on her, and my only quibble is that the shoes seem to be a dark red velvet and I don't get it.

This is at least interesting. I like it, actually, but it also looks like the walls of a restaurant that's incredibly pretentious about its quirkiness.

taly Film Festival 2018 Suspiria Photo Call, Venice, Italy - 31 Aug 2018
This is for Suspiria, another Guadagnino/SWINTON/Dakota Johnson joint. And it's another very nice dress, but one I think could have used a bracelet and maaaaybe a spicier shoe.

Can I just say that this daytime makeup is GREAT? I love the lip color.

Film Festival 2018 Suspiria Red Carpet, Venice, Italy - 01 Sep 2018
She got a red Dior for the night event, and while it's very simple, it also brings just enough drama that I think it seriously works?!? I don't feel like I generally like Dakota's outfits this much on the regular, but she's looked quite good in this slideshow. Perhaps Italy brings out the best in her.

Okay, these proportions seem a little wonkus, but still. See you on the docks, I hope, Dakota. You have a surprisingly tough act (of your own making) to follow.
