Danai wore a Nigerian-born American designer, Taofeek Abijako, who at 23 is at his first Met Gala with his line Head of State. And frankly, that's the kind of stuff I'd love to see the Met do. I gather he's been honored by the CFDA, but doesn't it feel like the Met and the CFDA should work together to incubate very small new designers, tasked specifically with making one or two custom ensembles that fit the theme? It'd be such a good platform. You know who *doesn't* need it? Louis Vuitton, Valentino, and Chanel, et al.

Anyway, Danai gave a really enthused interview to E! about his talent, and then said that their joint wink to the culture on "the continent" was her carrying [a fly whisk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fly-whisk?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), which royalty would use to swat the bugs while walking around mingling with the people. Come on into this grab bag, which includes her and Evan Mock in Head of State, some Fendi, some Bottega Veneta, Lanvin, and a vintage Lacroix, *darling*.
