Blindspotting is a movie that *Hamilton*'s Daveed Diggs co-wrote (and stars in), about -- this is woefully oversimplifying -- race and gentrification, against the backdrop of Oakland. I heard it called a darkly funny movie bubbling with social commentary, and it's supposed to be super. And, it's the kind of niche project that may never have happened without *Hamilton*. I'm not trying to say all things revolve around that musical, but it gave Diggs stroke in this town, and he's clearly a fresh and strong talent -- who might not have gotten this off the ground without that theatrical platform. Three cheers for new voices.
