[It sounds like Dev Patel really gave up his pound of flesh to make *Monkey Man*](https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/how-dev-patel-got-monkey-man-his-directorial-debut-beset-by-challenges-to-the-finish-line/ar-BB1l57Wv?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), which he wrote, directed, and stars in: He survived three separate physical injuries, a global pandemic, and a multi-year development process, only for the film to get dumped by Netflix. He thought it was a dead project until Jordan Peele got Universal to buy it; I hope it does well, because what an odyssey. And we need studios to keep supporting ambitious material and filmmakers, so that everything isn't just a half-cooked comic-book movie or a reboot.
