The belt part is just sort of tacked on there, and it's definitely not doing any cinching, or any particularly useful JOINING of things? I just watched the first chunk of "Annette," the Adam Driver/Marion Cotillard musical, and there's a part where they wander around morosely and drone this single line of a song: "Weeee love each otherrrrr so muuuuuuch.: It's really dispassionate (well, up until he sings it into her crotch) and for some reason that line floated through my head when I saw this photo. And now I can't stop laughing.
