This was an elegant and streamlined way to begin the year. And, in terms of starting as you mean to go on: She LOVES a coatdress.

So far, Kate's worn four Erdem numbers (by my count), and this one is absolutely glorious. I wish I owned it. Extra points for the pattern coordinating with Harry's tie, and her accessories matching Wills's.

2017 also saw a moderate uptick -- so far -- in what I'll call Lady Business Suits.

So far, this is the only OdlR that Kate has worn this year, but I hope she turns to them more often. Wouldn't this be GREAT on her?

We're also seen a decent amount of re-wears this year to date. That seems like such a consistently debated proposition for her: She rewears things too often, people are disappointed; she wears too many new things and people complain that she spends too much money.

Here's an old friend.

This dress is SO 80s, but in a way I LOVE. This photo could be on the cover of a YA novel about a haunted country estate.

Interesting to note: Kate wore far fewer lace dresses this year than you think she did.

Lots of jeans/boats/jackets outings in 2017 so far -- which is smart on the part of the palace. Kate does well in sporty events.

This Rebecca Taylor look is getting a fair amount of air this year, both this frock and the suit it's based on. (Kate really is the Queen of buying a million pairs of a thing she likes.)

Ah, sweet Patterned Formal Gown, you are a treat.

Did I pick the snap of this look where Kate and Wills are the most snuggly? Of course I did.

This coat was a repeat, this hat was...unpopular.

Along with Alexander McQueen, Catherine Walker is on pace to finish out this year as one of Kate's most-worn labels. She wore it A TON. And correctly, with this coat. It's gorgeous.

Paris was sartorially inspiring, back in March.

At the time, I noted that this dress looked like something from a Jenny Packham For Kate Middleton line and I stand by this.

SWOON. Sometimes, Karl Lagerfeld knows what he's doing.

This was also a rewear, and for good reason. It's kicky.

And Marchesa enters the race!

Obviously, the fanciest person here is the Man of God.

It's a miracle I haven't bought this sweater yet. It's primarily because I am not allowed to spend nearly $250 on ANOTHER STRIPED TOP MY GOD.

Three cheers, you sporty McGees.

It's pretty exciting to see Kate branch out into Armani. It's the first step toward her turning into Cate Blanchett.

This was very soft, for Easter Sunday services at Windsor with the Queen.

These Zara jeans must have an AMAZING cost-per-wear at this point.

As charming as I find William's waistcoast coordinating with Kate's (long-owned) satin coatdress, Princess Anne owns this photo.

This cream Chloe was ALSO sported at ANOTHER garden party for kids, in 2016 in Australia. That's a very specific nook in a woman's closet.

The pleating on this coatdress is GLORIOUS. (I also wonder, anew, what Priness Stephanie is doing with herself over there.)

This was not the best look Kate's ever worn, but Pippa's wedding -- which is, in case you're wondering, our most-read post of the year to date -- was not technically about Kate.

In which the Duchess of Cambridge MIGHT still be hungover from her sister's wedding.

I know, from our analytics, that at least two of you bought this dress (don't worry, I can't tell who buys what, but we're able to track which links lead to purchases) and I just want to say: I'm REALLY EXCITED FOR YOU, because it's SO CUTE. When those stats came up, I literally said, "GOOD FOR YOU" to my laptop. (They have it in red now, if you've been waiting.) (I actually think this entire Gucci line has some really Kate-appropriate stuff.)

Some of y'all ALSO bought some sailor pants, and one of those "some" included me, I admit it.

Alexander McQueen: The Official Designer of Trooping The Colour.

Doesn't it seem like we'd normally have seen more lace dresses by now? Sure, she has like three dresses JUST like this, but...details!

Here's our friend, Rebecca Taylor Lady Business Suit again.

Polka dots at Wimbledon!

Florals at Wimbledon!

We never got a good look at this Marchesa outfit, and, honestly, that's probably for the best. A cropped snap of her lurking in the distance might be its best angle.

All hail the new era of sexy shoes!

And here we are at last month's trip to Germany and Poland. This clutch has gotten a fair amount of play this year, too, and for good reason: It's lovely.

This is possibly Kate's most unusual dress of the year to date.

Controversial, but -- to my mind -- lovely.

Catherine Walker, making yet another appearance. Kate is good for her business. (Frankly, Kate's also good for mine.)

It's the Alexander McQueen cocktail dress that ROCKED. OUR. WORLDS. (Or whatever. It was a pleasant surprise!)

Well, Wills likes it!

It had been too long between bretons, for my money.

I hate to announce anything definitively, but it feels like we've turned a corner in terms of cocktail wear, right?

This lilac color is glorious. (And, for what it's worth, it also looked great as a manicure on me, the week after she wore this.)

...may we never see this hat again.

And here's our most recent look, in Belgium. That's four Catherine Walker looks to six Alexander McQueens, but we've got four months left in the year for Catherine to catch up. It's anyone's game!
