Tyra opened the show with this enormous froofy number, wandering in cheerfully on a hilarious mustard cloud that looked better from a distance. . and... maybe she was going for minimalism because she was so maximalist during Villains Week, but it sincerely looks like she forgot to do anything with her hair.
The more she talked up close, the more the bodice flopped around awkwardly. It was not built to have a microphone in front of it. ... WHATEVER THIS IS. And WHY? For a second I thought my eyes or my memory -- or the color on my TV -- had played a trick on me, but no, she changed from one giant yellow frock to another. This one has a terrible slit and a micro skirt, and the SLEEVES, Marty, something's gotta be done about those sleeves.
It is really hard to look like you're having a serious conversation with somebody when you are wearing this dress. (Also, AGAIN the hair is wrong with it, and AGAIN she seemed to have to pluck it out of the way a lot.)
The sleeve is also SEPARATE, by the way. So when she lifted her arms, it was like she had wings to flap and might take off.
I know you guys disagree, but NEVER CHANGE, Tyra. This is so utterly bonkers. It's perfect.

Derek, though, had on a really snazzy suit. He's someone who always seems deeply cheesy to me on a red carpet, in a bit of a desperate way, but I find his comments useful. Is that a rookie view or is he as good as I think he is? I might like him now.

I love that Carrie Ann is the Lift Police. She said she gets a ton of flack for that, but honestly, they SHOULD have someone watching for technical stuff. Live by the sword, die by the sword, y'all. Anyway, she's serving up some Ariana Grande energy here. Has she always been this dramatic?
