If you, like me, are wondering what is happening here -- is Elizabeth Taylor dressed like this for kicks, or for a bit? -- [the internet, for once, has the answer.](https://www.ina.fr/ina-eclaire-actu/video/i14192330/richard-burton-et-liz-taylor?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) (It's sort of both.) Nothing in that clip, however, truly explains the hair, and I suspect that's because the reason for this hair is, "it was 1967." Also very 1967: That Richard Burton walked on stage (to sing selections from *Camelot*, which came out as a film this very year although [he declined to reprise his starring stage role](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camelot%5F%28film%29?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io#Casting) for the movie) smoking, and then crushed out the cigarette on stage.
