# Elle August 2021: Adut Akech

Okay. So. I love the color scheme here. I LOVE how much it pops. But I don't think this cover does HER any favors at all. It's an awkward angle on her face. As you'll see in other shots, the photographer also favors the style where parts of the photo are intentionally blurry (like her hand here) but I don't think that's used to clever artistic effect. When you combine that with the unsatisfying story, that's what made me wonder if this was a late cover swap.

I wish we had a closer color shot of this -- her eye contact is mesmerizing, but the outfit is wonky.

Again with the intentional blur. I know she isn't, but it LOOKS almost as if she's eye-rolling it.

This focuses on the dress and not the woman.

And this also appears to make more of the outfit than of the model.

Not gonna lie, I am unclear why we were sent this.

That is HARD eye makeup to pull off; she's doing that pretty well.

I like this color on her, but again with the subtle blur.

They were REALLY into these boots, and indeed, much of the shoot feels designed to spotlight and sell them. More ammo for my theory.
