This whole event -- like the *Harper's Bazaar* Icons event in September, and many others before it -- would have benefited from a step-and-repeat and a carpet that didn't forget how often women like to wear black. Things just disappear into it. I'd have thought a fashion magazine at LEAST might've given that a moment of thought.

An important note: As of this writing, Dolly Parton, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Melina Matsoukas had not walked the red carpet, and we didn't have inside photos. I'll add them if I get them. (Update: [Kyle Buchanan has video of her](https://twitter.com/kylebuchanan/status/1183981968012132352?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), and in fact, [he live-tweeted it all](https://twitter.com/kylebuchanan/status/1183948283623792641?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) so you'll get to see Reese Witherspoon and other presenters as well.) Dolly had *better* be delivered to the dais via unicorn.
