'Elvis' premiere, 75th Cannes Film Festival, France - 25 May 2022
We have a longstanding joke that I am Elvis reincarnated, because I was born on the exact Death Day. And I DO love peanut butter. So, I'm excited for myself that Austin's rendition of me is getting good reviews. I'm concerned he might be a little Method though because at the Billboards (I think) he did his whole interview sounding a lot more like Elvis than he did in the Carrie Diaries. Let the King go, Austin! Release me! I give you permission.

In case you need the whole suit. It's very standard. I think... it would have been HILARIOUS if he'd come in something more Elvis-adjacent, but probably for the best that he reined himself in. Although a leather suit... some studs... maybe he'll bust it out Stateside.

Vogue says this is Gucci, so I shall trust it. I like that it looks retro, and floaty, in a real Old Hollywood way. But, am I crazy, or is she not QUITE carrying this? It might be that the head-styling isn't on the same level as the dress. But it seems like it's wearing her a little.

Although, bonus points for this angle, and the skirt carried like that when she walked in it, too.

Sidebar, something about this angle of her walking down the stairs in those GIANT platforms gives me anxiety. I hold my breath when I see it because I expect teetering, even though I know she was totally fine.

Celine seemed like an unusual choice for Austin, but if Kaia is wearing it too, then it makes a bit more sense to me -- I'm sure they went together. She looks nice! I know people want to compare it to sleek red dresses Cindy has worn, but honestly, I think... it's just a red dress she liked. Not EVERYTHING is a nod to everything else.

This was a very awkward kiss. It's more of a smoosh than a smooch. This is why movies block these things.

The family Luhrmann seems excited. Lillian is working a LOT more under/side boob than I would at one of my dad's work parties, although he worked for an oil company so it would have been extra scandalous.

So, for a long time all the photo services labeled Caylee as Summer Phoenix, and I am not familiar with the non-Joaquin Phoenixes, so I got tricked by that. Apparently they had a horrendous divorce? WHERE WAS I. Anyway. Everyone looks nice here, if unexpectedly plaintive on Casey's part.

So, I gather this move was made with Priscilla's blessing -- possibly also her input -- because she's attended every event for it. Therefore, I have little hope that it will delve into and interrogate the fact that her relationship with Elvis started when she was, what, 14? Or at least that's when they met and he became besotted, if I remember right, and her family encouraged it, which all seems like a potent thing to examine. We'll see!
