My mother turned to me here and said, "Amy Schumer's dress might be good if she hoiked it." My mother gets it. The thing is, Schumer's dress MIGHT have been good hoiked, but it looks like it wasn't ever even made to accommodate her cup size. It also needed accessories. Badly. We might not have noticed the hoiking needs, for example, had she worn a really baller statement necklace. This was undercooked, basically.

In other news, it was nice to see the Amys on-stage together, although I couldn't detect much chemistry there. I wish they'd had more to do than just bland patter -- if you've got two hot comedy properties together who have not yet been in each other's professional orbits, it'd be more fun to let them loose.

This accessory, however, makes everyone feel better. Her category was tough -- SNL might have been the only unsatisfying winner in the bunch? -- but I think her show has achieved a LOT in terms of smart, edgy humor and a fresh voice. Also, I honestly think she thought the nomination was her win and was genuinely floored when they took it home. Sad that Key & Peele didn't get one too, but I THINK the current season might be eligible NEXT year? The qualifying period was June 1, 2014 - May 31, 2015, which means, for example, that Uzo Aduba just won for season TWO of OITNB and not season three, aka the Time Hump season. Key & Peele started in July, so okay, good, that means it's still eligible one more time.

I do thin Amy will look back and wish she had an updo. I sympathize. My hair falls out of a style in three seconds flat and doesn't respond well to things like climate. But her coif ended up looking like it died on her head.

As for La Poehler, I'm sure this is incurably picky of me, but I'd have done without the exact matching sets of bracelets. Just one wrist's worth of them is enough. The dress itself also chops her up a bit. I don't know. We privately predicted she'd wear either black or navy, and it's one of those times I'm sad to be right. It's a snore.
