Brie Larson

I wish we had an actual photo of her dress; it's a vintage 1970s Oscar de la Renta, with a cute feather trim that I think she wore with very disappointing shoes.

Da'Vine Joy Randolph

This is a little too bedsheets-adjacent. And a letdown now that we know what she wore the next night.

Devery Jacobs

She is really into wild shapes and volume right now. Here she is clearly marking the end of heirloom tomato season.

Nicola Coughlan

I didn't hate what she wore to the Emmys -- the silver Tin Man dress-- but this is better. She looks tremendous.

Kali Reis

Kali has a different vibe every single time -- and you'll see her twice more in this slideshow -- and it's always something unexpected. This is like... Grace Jones crossed with aughts punk, or something.

Anna Sawai

What a scrolldown. Perfect face, terrible turtleneck, tragic skirt.

Dakota Fanning

It's like she and Anna pulled out the tired stuff so that their Emmys dresses would shine.

Ncuti Gatwa

I like the jacket, mostly? His pants might be too short. But he's just so delightful.

Brett Goldstein, Lamorne Morris

Where is the Roy Kent/Winston Bishop comedy, I ask you.

Kali Reis

She went aughts punk before, and now this is giving late '90s.

Nicole Beharie in Maria Lucia Hohan

Give this woman some jewels!

Aja Naomi King in Tory Burch

She was one of the best parts of How To Get Away With Murder, so I'm glad she landed a nom for Lessons in Chemistry. This is cute! Perfect for a Night Before situation.

Ella Purnell

Everyone had those shoes from Steve Madden in the early aughts.

Richa Moorjani in 1993 Versace

She was overlooked for her work in Fargo! I love this on her -- it's fun and splashy and feels FRESH even though it's from 1993. Great find.

Carrie Coon

I assume she's preparing for her next great role as Naomi Watts in the biopic Turn Down for Watts.

Nava Mau in Cavalli

This is totally overpowering her.

Karen Pittman in Carolina Herrera

This all feels a little like Sarah Jessica Parker sent her a mood board.

Quinta Brunson

Quinta came to the annual hotel managers' conference READY TO PARTY.

Chris Perfetti

That coat is... too much.

Sheryl Lee Ralph

Ooh, striped pants. I'm not sure they completely fit? But it's pretty good.

D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai

He and Chris both look a little like they're playing dress-up in an older relative's clothes.

Katie Aselton

The shoes again! Sigh. Also, I would like this better without the coozies.

Sherry Cola in Harbison

The really good news is, she wisely replaced the shoes.

Quinta Brunson

Not the tan shoes! She was INTO the cleav at the pre-parties, though.

Heidi Klum

This is very Video Vixen.

Kali Reis

And here is her hat trick for this gallery. It's extremely chic, and is my favorite of the three.

Chris Perfetti

This is hilariously bad. The dress-up games continue. He looks like he's in costume as a douchebag music video director.

Zachary Quinto

The shirt is bad, but I cannot AT ALL co-sign what he's doing with his head-styling right now.

Nava Mau

I don't love it, but at least it's BREATHING on her, unlike that weird angry Cavalli.

Harvey Guillen

This suit is clearly an ode to What We Do In The Shadows...

... which is VERY clear from the back.

Lilly Singh

This is another scrolldown. It's all working until she got her pants mixed up.

Tyler James Williams

This is the face of a man who knows he's gonna surprise is with his biceps at the Emmys proper.

Brie Larson Played Operation Before the Emmys

At a pre-party.
