Heidi Klum in Dundas

This seems so banal, it could be by anyone. It's just... a basic maxi dress, no? It's not her worst by any stretch, but it's very Independent Spirit Awards-- something where you throw on leather sandals or flats and bike there down Ocean Blvd. That is not the same vibe as the Emmys. And you guys are going to laugh, but: That is TOO MANY BRACELETS. She DABs: ditch-a-bracelet. (That makes no grammatical sense but I don't care.)

Sonequa Martin-Green in Romona Keveza

Stunning in its simplicity. And styled beautifully, so that it's not boring.

Issa Rae in Vera Wang

The bones of this dress are fab on Issa, but its sleeve indecision is giving me hives. Are you sleeveless, short-sleeved, or long-sleeved? Somehow currently it is ALL THREE AT ONCE.

In case this gives any clarity about construction. I don't know. I downloaded the picture.

Edie Falco

What a lovely linen napkin. Crate & Barrel?

Gina Rodriguez in Naeem Khan

This looks super hot on Gina, and I just can't decide if I think it's cutting into her chest a bit.

Yvonne Strahovski in Julien Macdonald

I love you, Yvonne, and I admire that your boobs can be in a great spot with so little support. But this is missing interesting workmanship. Or really ANY kind of point of view.

Gillian Anderson

Bceause of where Dana Scully is standing, I keep thinking she has hair jewelry in, like she's some kind of woodland nymph. She looks insanely good.

Justina Machado and Rita Moreno

They both look wonderful, and I really, really need to check out One Day at a Time. I've heard nothing but positive things.

Debra Messing in Romona Keveza

I recognized this, and dug up an Instagram photo of the day we saw it in the Keveza atelier in 2015. If it's not the same dress, then they are close, close cousins. I can tell you that the fabric feels GLORIOUS in person -- she let us touch it -- and I think it was a great choice on Debra. (I recall this looking more reddish-brown at the time, and also on TV last night, than it is here. CLOSE ENOUGH.)

Barbara Alyn Woods

DEB SCOTT! IN THE FLESH! Did she and Peyton have a long talk about One Tree Hill business?

Cicely Tyson

She looks majestic, as usual. The moment with her and Anika Noni Rose on stage was awkward, but I thought Anika - who has such a naturally kind face, by the way - handled it very patiently and gracefully. I think it was just that Cicely couldn't see the TelePrompTer. But what gave me the giggles was when Anika first leaned in to whisper a cue to her, Cicely waved her hand after a second as it to be liike, "OKAY OKAY I got it," in a manner that evoked Sassy Indepedent Old Lady Who Doesn't Like People Doing Things For Her in a way that I respect. Cicely Tyson is in her nineties, and it is a compliment when I say that I suspect she is the QUEEN of sassy independent older ladies.

Padma Lakshmi in Siriano

Well, it's not Christian's most innovative work, and fishtails were never my jam. But I think she's wearing the shit out of it, and it does feel appropriately major. Maybe it's the haircut that's swaying me, though. I love it on her. She may have had it for a while, of course, bu I accidentally stopped watching Top Chef.

Carrie Coon in Delpozo

That gown is not my favorite - I wish it did not so rapidly turn to brown, like so many avocados that I want to eat. However, can we talk about her hair right now? I am getting a HUGE Sigourney Weaver vibe from her with that style. And now I may never be satisfied until they work together. UNIVERSE: HEAR ME.

Emmys 2017: As Ever, Reds and Pinks Were Deployed In Full Force

From Cicely to Debra to Issa to Heidi to Dana Scully.
