Let's just get right to the nonsense here. First, all the other dresses in here are blue and green, except for this one. It didn't really fit in ANY slideshow we'd mapped out, so I decided to throw it in here because this is what I was doing when I saw Laura -- who had escaped my attention the rest of the night. IT IS WRETCHED. I think she knows it, too. I think she HOPED it would have a Lynchian whimsy to it, but it just looks costumey and deranged. Human beings don't like their insides to be on the outside; why would dresses?

Gorgeous, and doubtless also comfortable -- plus handy in the event that she's packing a portable breast pump. I'm serious. You can untuck and retuck and then be on your way.

Holly Taylor in Georges Chakra

It's very close to being a cat's cradle up there on the bodice, but as it stands, that's pretty immaculate on her. Everything seems to lie precisely where it's meant to, which is NEVER a given.

Michelle Dockery in Carolina Herrera

Hmm. It's... hmm. I mean, it's definitely pretty, but it also looks like someone put a very possessive corsage on her, and I can't say I'm fond of the bangs.

I TOLD YOU I'd never deny you a twirl.

She didn't look totally at ease in this on the red carpet. The color is perfect, though. It feels more Sofia Vergara than Gail Simmons to me.

Sara Bareilles in ADEAM

This is also great. People really went for it with simple cuts that are hard to mess up, and I can appreciate that.

Gina Rodriguez in Zuhair Murad

This was originally sheer at the bottom -- she lined it with beige, which... well, made it beige -- and also had a cape. I wish she'd kept that part. NEVER shed the cape.

Dakota Fanning in Dior

Well, color me shocked, it's a Fanning NOT in Prada or Miu Miu. I'm sure this happens more often than I realize. It's a pretty cut, but it doesn't seem fully prepared for her cup size.

Poppy Delevingne in Giambattista Valli

She's in Genius, which was about Picasso, hence her presence in this mint flotilla.

Britney Young

Purple shoes with this! IS THIS THE WORK OF UZO ADUBA?

Chrissy Metz in John Paul Ataker

Another green and purple combo (those shoes, which are her favorite cut, are Stuart Weitzman). The tourniquet-style bodice is a departure for her, though it's not my particilar favorite, and I find myself missing earrings or a bracelet -- again, just a little jolt of something to polish it off.

Amanda Peet in Michael Kors

I assume she and Marin Hinkle (from the pinks/purples post) got together and were like, "Did we nail cut and color, or WHAT."

I like this a lot more than I expected to, considering how dingy the overskirt is. I wish we could've seen it without. I detect sparkles. I demand that they not be diluted.

Emmys 2018: Kirsten Dunst Emerges, and Laura Dern WTFs.
Yes, WTF is a verb now. Go with it.
