Regina King in Schiaparelli

I appreciate Regina ultimately going for comfort and a statement over the giant studded scrunchie she had on tap (though thanks to social media, she got to have a moment in both). And her speech and her shirt were both beautiful.

Octavia Spencer

On her Instagram, Octavia called this a Tadashi Shoji dress; it looks like she's wearing it as a robe, so maybe it's a wrap dress that she's repurposing. Regardless, it's pretty and the perfect at-home dressy vibe, which is a thing now.

Shira Haas

Shira is in "Unorthodox," which is supposed to be excellent (and won a surprise directing Emmy over Watchmen). I wish we could see this whole thing because it looks amazing.

Kerry Washington in D&G

She still looks pretty, and the dress is in and of itself fine, but it's a bummer that it's Dolce & Gabbana.

Reese is so ready for 2020 to be over that she threw a New Year's Eve party.

Tracey Ullman did not attend, so they stashed someone with a cutout of her face in the bottom left corner...

... and it was Tracy Morgan, who did a little shtick about how all the famous Tracys stick together. It was funny enough, but it came RIGHT when they were about to announce the winner and I think that timing is kind of mean. However, it did not blunt the thrill for the eventual victor...

Uzo Aduba

... because LOOK. Uzo, who won for playing Shirley Chisholm in "Mrs. America," was just pure glee. Also, I'm sure eagle-eyed people are doing entire posts on what's on her bookshelf. All I can make out is a FARGO book.

Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson popped in to lend support to Holland Taylor, and seemed equally happy for Uzo.

Margo Martindale

And Margo, who was also in Mrs. America, could not have been more excited. She was bouncing. It was so lovely. One thing about the Zoom format is that more of the non-winners seemed to be smiling through emotion, a bit, than usual? I wonder if being in your house with the Emmy dude in a hazmat suit lurking in the shadows makes it harder to swallow it when your name isn't called.

Jean Smart

Jean was up for Watchmen, and she TOO was clappy.

Tracy Morgan

Tracy Morgan Ullman was clapping like a person who had lost audio and wasn't sure what anyone was saying but saw Jean Smart and decided to do what she did.

Damon Lindelof and the Watchmen team

Honestly, seeing that group in masks given the content of Watchmen is extra sobering. Also, thanks, y'all, for wearing masks on TV. Even if they took them off later, or didn't have them on before, choosing them in that moment sends a really strong message.

And here are your miniseries/movie Supporting Actor nominees. Tituss was nominated in this category because Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt did a Choose Your Own Adventure-style reunion movie, in which Daniel Radcliffe also makes a truly delightful guest appearance. I enjoy that he changed into silken pajamas. That's Dylan McDermott in the top left (sitting on... a throne?!?), then Jim Parsons, Tituss in his silken robe, then below him is Louis Gossett Jr., and Jovan Adepo from Watchmen. That final square belongs to...

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II

... Yahya, whom we saw in the main post already, but it was worth it to see him again. His speech was great.

John Oliver

John Oliver won for talk/variety show or somesuch, and those wins were pre-taped, so he got to do a gag where a fist burst out of a box with the Emmy. He seemed very surprised that it didn't backfire spectacularly.

John Oliver

And he dressed to match the box. Thoughtful.

RuPaul

Ru's box did not seem to blow confetti everywhere? WHY NOT, I ASK. The boys were thrilled that Ru won because they saw him on Muppets Now and thought he seemed awesome. They are right, and his jacket is upping the ante.

Maria Schrader

During her charming and I think unexpected win for Unorthodox, Jessica and I were exclaiming over her wood paneling. Her Zoom room was exceedingly well-chosen.

Sunrise Coigney and Mark Ruffalo

Mark won for the series in which he plays twins, which looked very sad and harrowing. And Sunrise, his wife, FREAKED OUT. She jumped up and squealed and then sat back down and tried to contain her emotions as best she could but you could TELL she was desperate to plant one on him. It was so charming. She was radioactive with pride.

Hugh Jackman

Hugh looked great and I need a long essay immediately about WHAT is behind him. It looks like a giant card catalog. PLEASE can Hugh Jackman have a giant card catalog! And what is that bird statue saying? Vulture needs to get on this.

Jeremy Pope

Everyone in this picture looks fabulous and I want to be at that party.

Paul Mescal

"Well. It's just you and me now, wonky tree."

Watchmen Won Big in the Miniseries/Limited Series Category
Regina King deserves it all.
