Jennifer Aniston, of course, looks like Peak Jennifer Aniston: Great jewels, black gown, long hair, tan. Usually, this would be dull to me but we live in an uncertain time and it would be stressful if Jennifer Aniston showed up in like a pink ruffled scrunchie dress.

I must also confess that I find Aniston's competent, assured comedic skills to be the funny version of competence porn. She is not going to whiff this bit! Anyway, Jimmy also looks totally reasonable.

Back at her house, Jen changed into frankly a very good robe for an amusing bit where she, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow pretended they were still roommates (although technically Phoebe never lived with them but whatever! Also does this mean Chandler and Monica have broken up? What does this bit mean for the Friends universe! Is Jason Bateman Monica's second husband? Actually, I can totally believe that). Additionally: Aniston has a great bookshelves, jeez!

Bateman also did a bit at the open with Kimmel where he pretended to be a cardboard cut-out because he's desperate for human interaction and I feel him! I like that they made a cut-out of Sandra Oh where she looks like she thinks everyone is an idiot. This is my favorite Sandra Oh!

I was doing some research about this last night, and there was a very thoughtful (as of when I wrote this) conversation in the comments of H.E.R's Instagram about whether this look was based on the traditional Vietnamese ao dai, or the Chinese qipao. I believe it is the former, although Vera Wang is of course herself Chinese. (I also learned that H.E.R is half Filipino! It was a very interesting and thoughtful discussion.) I am sure a lot of thought went into this choice and I would love to read the process behind it -- I haven't found anything about it yet.
