# Erdem's Inspiration This Season Was... 100 Years Ago

It's not that the 1920s ever felt close, particularly, but something about remembering that decade began exactly 100 years ago has been very sobering for me. This show was [pegged to an exhibit of Cecil Beaton's portraits of socialites from the twenties and thirties](https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2020-ready-to-wear/erdem?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), and while I am by no means fluent in Beaton, that vibe does seem to permeate the usual Erdem frippery.
