# Eurovision 2022: The Semi-Finals Are Over, and Some True Greatness Missed the Cut

I bring sobering news: The Eurovision 2022 winners will not be Latvia, whose Making Veganism Sexy anthem "Eat Your Salad" did not get through. This is obviously a catastrophe, as is the elimination of a man riding a mechanical bull.

Everyone has Ukraine pegged to win this thing, and does that not feel like a very mixed blessing for them? Does that nation *really* want to get stuck hosting Eurovision next year? Don't they have a LOT more things to worry about right now? And, [as predicted in these comments](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/its-eurovision-week-and-here-are-some-of-your-contestants-05-2022/), sentiment toward the UK may have mellowed, because that song is doing very well with bookies right now. I deliberately don't watch the Grand Finalists until the day-of, so I can't weigh in on anything but these acts; pretty much everywhere but the U.S. can go to Eurovision's YouTube to watch the performances in [Semi-Final 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQhMpP--HDk&ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) and [Semi-Final 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrG5k4QCPeU&ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) and everyone Stateside has to sign up for that free Peacock trial.

And now, a farewell celebration for the entries from Albania, Latvia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Austria, Israel, Georgia, Malta, San Marino, Cyprus, Ireland, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. Oh, except it turns out I didn't download any pictures of Austria, which is just as well; the song was awful and they were just standing in a circle of lights the whole time. Yawn.
