## Alesha Dixon, Julia Sanina, Hannah Waddingham

Well, this went off the rails today. Hannah's outfit fits her perfectly, and her figure is insane, but I don't like the style at all. Alesha's looks like it's shrinking on her body, and Julia is a human boot.

## Denmark: Reiley, "Breaking My Heart"

Oh, Timotheus Chalamet. He is 25, although he looks believably 13 here. Do not be fooled. He also had heart-shaped cutouts all over this outfit. My ruling on this song is that it's secretly a Dua Lipa song and she can someday cover it to fill, like, the 13th slot on an album, or something, and then everything will make a lot more sense. He just didn't have the falsetto he needed, for one thing.

## Denmark: Reiley, "Breaking My Heart"

But he tried. And that nest of curls! Perhaps if he had just done more than hearts with the staging? Like, shoot some people out of cannons across the stage, or something. It doesn't have to MEAN anything.

## Romania: Theodor Andrei, "D.G.T. (Off and On)"

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Romania2023-3-1683848524-scaled.jpeg)

I did not expect computer people spread-eagled with guitars! This song's title is a play on words -- the letters read out sound like the Romanian word for "fingers," referencing the regional expression "play me on your fingers," which is similar to our "you played me for a fool." So I guess... hence the guitar? The song itself is a little bit emo rock. The "official music video" is just his performance in Romania, I think, and it's kinda worse than this one was. Poor dude. He was last in the betting, and that was right.

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Romania2023-1-1683848792.jpeg)

He opened by singing in a pink shorts suit, in front of screen images of HIMSELF looking like he's doing a Zoom audition for indigestion medicine. I really want to understand the creative decision behind Left Theodor having gloves and Right Theodor not having gloves. WHAT ARE YOU CONVEYING ABOUT FINGERS, SIR.

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Romania2023-5-1683848565.jpeg)

I wonder if this is the part where he is singing, per the translation, "The scent of mistake just reminds you of me // And now all of your demons keep screaming my name // Take a little sip of venom now."

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Romania2023-6-1683848553.jpeg)

I like to think this is the part where he is singing, "Fingers, what are you afraid of, tell me quickly." Because he used HIS fingers to open up his jacket and go full chest.

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Romania2023-7-1683848542.jpeg)

And then at the end, almost like an afterthought, this girl in a catsuit came out and smeared his chest with black paint. I mean, who am I to tell him how to end his indigestion commercial?

## Georgia: Iru Khechanovi, "Echo"

The little snapshot of Ukraine/UK/Georgia that aired before her performance made Georgia look really pretty. That is about the best thing from this. There is only room for a few big ballads, and hers was not one of them. I do appreciate that her right arm looks like when we would talk on the corded phone back in the day, and after a few hours the cord would end up wrapped around my finger/arm/wrist.

Her scalp jewelry was very Star Trek.

She DID come in hot with some drums, but it just sorta felt like she was performing a twilight ritual rather than a song.

## San Marino: Piqued Jacks, "Like an Animal"

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/sanmarino2023-2-1683848748.jpg)

This is the most interesting thing that happened during HIS performance. He just bounced around and shouted amiably in a sparkly red jacket. My notes say, "Well HE won't make it, but maybe it won't be terrible on iTunes?"

## Greece: Victor Vernicos, "What They Say"

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Greece2023-2-1683848615.jpeg)

And now your local UPS driver would like to have an honest talk about what happened to your recent delivery.

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Greece2023-4-1683848627.jpeg)

He couldn't possibly have noticed that your package fell off the truck, because he was busy having an out of body experience

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Greece2023-3-1683848638.jpeg)

And then he passed out on the curb, and when he woke up, he had an unaccountable craving for Alphabits cereal.

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Greece2023-5-1683848650.jpeg)

And then he... got a headache. So, he's very sorry, but you won't be getting your plastic cabinet organizers today. (Real talk, this poor guy was REALLY disappointed he didn't make it, I felt so badly for him. The studio version of this song is quite good and also one that I think could get TV/radio play, BUT his voice wasn't strong enough live, and so he couldn't nail down the performance aspect.)

## Iceland: Diljá, "Power"

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Iceland2023-2-1683848737.jpeg)

I thought her power ballad was actually a lot better than some of the banal dance-pop that went through -- I am listening to Poland as we speak, after having just re-heard this song -- but, what can you do. The home viewers handle ALL the voting in the semifinals, and they wanted more scantily clad writhers.

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Iceland2023-3-1683848726.jpeg)

This feels very Middle Earth. Sauron has sent the weeds after her.

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/05/Iceland2023-1-1683848714.jpg)

But she TRIUMPHED. Over Sauron; not over 10 other countries in this contest. I guess if I had to choose, I'd pick surviving the evil plant tendrils. My actual note here was that this song sounds like one of the ones that'll make it to a music supervisor and end up under the end of a TV drama. I might take back my lack of outrage. Poland's was REALLY boring and that made it, and this didn't!
